Don't watch tele much but this sounds good,
Could someone please tell me what to watch and in what order please?

This Is England (film) - set in 1982
This Is England '86
This Is England '88
This Is England '90

All of it (including the film) should be on 4oD. Haven't had a look though.

I saw the movie with the skinheads in it.. Steven what's his name. .. the scouser etc
now I'll search out the others.
 
They over played the race card, played a brilliant domestic abuse card, under played the drugs card, cut the football card completely out and created a great comedy couple with woody's parents. Great TV.
 
That has to be some of the finest bit of telly ever written and acted, The Combo and Milky scenes were chilling, the piano music really helped with the drama it didn't need words sometimes.
 
i loved the movie and could relate to lots of it as a kid the same age as Shaun , i then heard '86 was grim so i didnt bother watching it and only heard more grim grimness afterwards -

then last sunday getting ready for work i saw a little bit of '90 (the fight around the dinner table ) - i was mesmerised by the performances and so over the last week ive watched all of '86 , '88 and '90 - just finished watching the finale after work today .

I dunno what my friends were banging on about as '86 had some genuine comedy with probably the darkest bit of TV ive seen on the small screen - what happened to Trev was a long scene to air on telly , and it had all the impact .

Harvey was my favourite character - , blink and you missed him in the movie !

Think Harvery had one line in the whole film about Shaun looking like he was off to Woodstock, based on his hair & the way he dressed. Think one of the extras who was in the film, in Woody's skinhead gang got a better role somewhere else, so his character got wrote out of it.

I thought it was weird at first to see Milky being mates with Banjo & Meggy after them joining the NF & being friends with Combo in the latter part of the film.

The improvisation in places was brilliant. Particularly, in the comedy factor.

TIE 88 shat on 86 for shock factor, i reckon. There was some comedy moments in 86 like Gadget with the Older woman, Flip & Higgy, which lightened the mood. Obviously there was some horrific moments which put me to unease like the rape scene

Lol's attempt at suicide & Woody & Milky's freindship collapsing was just brutal in TIE 88. Although, Woody's boss at their xmas do with the coupons was quite funny.

TIE 90 was class though. I ****in love Flip & Higgy. It was good that Meadows wrote about all the characters & not just Shaun, Lol & Woody.
