This forum must be one of the best, if not the best, on NOT606, and that's thanks to the good lads that contribute positively to it. There'll always be the odd one who wants to spoil things, but in the main we are a good, friendly group who look out for each other, despite disagreements from time to time.
One of our most respected contributors (and he is ours) is 68 today, he has a reputation for helping (a lot of) others without reward, and I expect him to continue to do so for as long as he can. He helps to keep our board fresh & lively, and he's a really genuine bloke who loves S.A.F.C. and deserves this little bit of recognition . . . .

Last week the head of football in Saudi said that the "daft" money being spent on players and contracts won't continue past this window. They plan to put money into growing the game, ie infrastructure.

Today, while on talkSPORT,Hearn who is probably going to change his name to "Saudi", because that's all he talks about was saying they have the offer on their end for Joshua's next fight, but we're seemingly struggling to get the fight in Saudi, and for the first time in ages, started pitching the idea if taking fights back to Vegas and London. Few others were saying that the promised money in Saudi just isn't coming through. Big fights haven't happened. My point is, They said the daft money spending in football will stop and talk of boxing seemingly fading out. Board already?

I always thought this “unlimited money” crack is bollocks but I think they’ll continue to put money into the mags because the EPL is the biggest/best league in the world whereas no it doesn’t matter who plays in the Saudi league people still won’t really watch unless the games are on Sky Sports when nothing else is really worth watching.

Someone can probably explain much better because I’m not really 100% sure but if the bulk of their wealth comes from oil which countries are supposed to be cutting back on then where do they get the money to continue ploughing into sports? Investing their money is a gamble and won’t pay dividends close to what they’re profiting from oil. They need the world to rely on oil but it’s quite clear that we’re trying to move away from fossil fuels.

If the nations economy starts changing for the worse I can’t see the public being happy that they’re throwing billions of pounds into vanity projects.

Maybe they've realised that football is so dominated by greed these days, it doesn't matter how much they're willing to plough in, the cry will always be for more.
