sure i read somewhere (hence 'apparently') that the great pyramids were already ancient to her, surprised the feck outta me.

    EDIT: quick google found this...
Cleopatra lived closer in time to the building of the first Pizza Hut than to the building of the pyramids.

    ...and just as surprisingly, this...
The woolly mammoth still roamed the earth while the pyramids were being built.

Is that last fact the truth? I'm shocked

i will let others do any trawling of the interweb they feel they need to do to try and discredit me/the info/both...but a quick search came up with a page of basically, 'facts that some find hard to believe' so i am happy with that.

there was another one that states the T.Rex lived closer to our time than it did the time of the Stegasaurus.

I believe both facts but it breaks my brain a little to try and comprehend it.

At some point in the future, our era will be lumped in with Cleopatra and the pyramids as if they're all roughly around the same time.

aye we all tend to think of the dinasour era or the egyptian era etc as a 'brief time in history' which in the greater scale of time it was merely a blip and 'we' have not even been here for an instant of that time...seem to remember some fact from forever ago so my memory most likely has it wrong but it was along the lines of if all the time was represented by a single year 'we' have been around for much less than one second

Following the passing of her Mam in March, me and the Mrs had the daunting task of clearing the house. Her dad had died about 8 years ago, and he was a bit of a hoarder. In the attic we found a selection of grimy badges fastened to what looked like an old curtain. He was a miner, and a socialist, and the badges all related to this, and were something he had collected over time.
They obviously meant something to him, so I didn't just want to get rid of them.
I gave them a bit of a polish up, and spent this afternoon putting them in some frames. There's about 300 or so of them, I think he would be pleased....the Mrs is over the moon that I done it.
A few pics to give an idea of them. 20220918_221025.jpg 20220918_221230.jpg 20220918_221533.jpg 20220918_221727.jpg

The detail on some of them is unreal, couldn't believe how good they looked once I cleaned them up.

Just a bit of general purpose surface cleaner (aldi) sprayed onto a microfiber cloth to get the main grime off, then a quick wipe with a dry one.
