I spent a fair bit of time in Vancouver. I hate cities usually, but that one was great. Beach on one side and mountains on the other. Used to leave work at 3 in the summer for beach barbecues and watersports. Same time in winter for skiing. Very expensive, but a great lifestyle.

Have often considered emigrating - my sister did it nearly 7 years ago and the have an amazing lifestyle over there.
Just so difficult with the kids' schooling not to mention the missus would need to retrain, or at least do additional learning to teach over there.

15 years ago I had the chance to emigrate to Melbourne for work. I was keen but my wife less so. Long discussions and we stayed put. No regrets really as I still love where I live but sometimes I wonder if it was a missed opportunity.

It's a big risk to take and huge change for all. When my sister was initially out there on her own she was very lonely in the evenings - with the time difference everyone she knew was asleep by the time she got in from work.
For me, the inability to go to Sunderland games - even watching them on a Sat morning- would be a big change, not to mention not seeing friends/family.
I think the best option is to keep Canada as our holiday destination and not ruin it by having to get up for work on a wet Monday morning in February

Canadians do not have the same sense of humour we have as my ex partner found out.
My mate was in his first board meeting and they were talking about what they did over the weekend, all was going well until the lady taking the minutes said, well with the weather being poor I just stayed in and played with my pussy all weekend. Needless to say Martin launched his coffee across the table but everyone just sat and looked at him wondering what was wrong.<laugh><laugh> He learnt quickly what was funny and what wasn’t

Sure I did before it was The Rabbit though. Must be 20ish years ago, rippers on before the match. Proper dirty rippers anarl, not topless dancers. Sure I remember a girl on girl thing in a shower cubicle in there but that might just be wishful thinking <cheers>

It's funny how our minds play tricks . . . . place a finger or thumb horizontally across the middle (the join) and you'll see that both parts are the same colour :emoticon-0112-wonde

Me and the lad spent few helping clear up after the floods. Hell of a mess left behind. Maybe I am lucky where I live but community spirit alive and well with a good few helping. No questions asked, just sleeves rolled up and cracked on. Makes you proud really of people - easy to think people cant be arsed anymore, but some can. I still think if you show a bit of commitment yourself others join in.

Floods have caused a load of damage. Nowt you can do really and not the first time we have had it bad. Second time in 5 years I have helped the football club after flooding. Someone showed me 4 young fellas next village along had put something on social media saying they had a van, one was electrician and one a builder, anybody need any help after the flood just ring and they would be there. Canny that.

Nothing says "Welcome to McDonalds, please, come in and eat" like seeing all the staff on their brakes stood outside together smoking and hacking up.
