Nothing 'silly' about it at all. It's called the law of averages and the fact it has never been close to happening before shows you how difficult and unlikely it is.

Happy to bet you, right now, twenty quid that Spain won't win it. Stick your money where your (big) mouth is.

<ok>

You cant use the law of averages when the first 3 results are already known. If you get 3 heads in a row, it doesn't make tails more likely to come up on the 4th flip. It still remains a 50/50 chance.

As far as your bet offer goes, I have already been down to William Hills and placed my biggest football bet ever on Spain at 13/2, so why would I want to bet them at even money with you:biggrin:

Because you're highly confident.
Surely it's a sure thing so I'm just giving you money.

Pirlo, Buffon, Bonucci, Chiellini and Balotelli.

Probably rather Sturridge than Balotelli, but agree with the rest. Barzagli, De Rossi, Verratti and Marchisio probably would too.

I've gone for Argentina to win the thing at 4/1, with Aguero claiming the golden boot. Brazil will bottle it I reckon and I just don't see Spain doing it in South America. Dark horses for me are France as I don't think people will be expecting them to do well at all.

I think the top goal scorer will come from Argentina, as they'll put loads past Iran, Nigeria and Bosnia in the group stages. Aguero is a pretty good shout, Higuain though is a much bigger price at 22/1 and will play centrally, with Messi and Aguero playing wider. So I'd be tempted to go for him

If spain win it then I will be even less of a fan of international football. they are ****ing dire ( boring not actually **** ) and bore the world to death.

anyone who thinks spains style is good, isnt a football fan. Football is about excitement not boring the **** out of you.

Brazil or Germany for me Massive chance it will be Brazil though. Hope the dutch cripple the spanish too, for the good of the game!

22/1! I may join you there, especially with the players he'll have around him.

It is not always Spain's fault though, as every team parks the bus against them. They played good football in both the euros they won, though I will agree they where quite boring in the last World Cup

You will find teams have figured out Spain now, like Barca have been found out, so Spain will need to adapt quick or risk going out early.

Is called defending.

Spain keep passing so teams adapt to play against it.

Or should everyone just step aside and let them win?

It is because Spain have miles better footballers than any other side, just the same as Barca do. So no team will dare open up against them, as you'll never out play them, so they adopt a negative approach. It's hardly Spain's fault that they are so good, that teams feel the need to use spoiling tactics against them:biggrin:

Or to put it another way, not letting them win.

Parking the bus is the most over used cretinous, lazy cliché used in football.

I think most European teams will struggle against teams from Africa, and South and Central America. The weather will play a big part in how the group stages finish. Many European players will struggle to adapt to the heat and humidity. Even here in the MLS the players that come from Europe struggle to adapt to the weather here in the states and they get to play and train in the weather a few times a year if their team isn't normally effected by the heat/humidity.
