Confirmed ! The presenter on BBC Breakfast has just spent 5 minutes showing the nation how to walk like a penguin apparently it's safer in icy conditions. FFS.It’s simply because they have air time to fill / an audience to engage with. There wasn’t 24 hour news then, there wasn’t even breakfast tv never mind social media. People would get to work then, say “ooh it’s a bit chilly” and then ****ing get on with it.
February temperatures of minus 5 and a couple of inches of snow isn’t news unless you have news to fill.

I can't find the picture on tinternet again .I like Stephen Fry and that quote is spot on. But I'm already missing that lass in your old avatar.
Bring her back please, DJ![]()
Just took me an hour to do my normal 15 minute commute and I really don't get why , all main roads are normal , people just didn't seem to be moving!
Someone told me in the 60's and 70's people just got on with it and there was no drama about the weather.
Wonder why the media make such a big deal about it these days ?
Are they trying to re-calibrate the public's thinking.
The BBC have invested a lot in this 'freak weather event' which is why they are now ramming it down your throat...The media used to report news. They now spew propaganda.
That's the crux of the problem for me.Drove up from the Midlands for the game and the A15 up from Lincoln was treacherous. Same coming back but only light traffic and just one car in a ditch near Scampton. My car is rear wheel drive and on low profile tyres, so had to take it a bit steady, but not as steady as some.
20 odd years ago I worked in real winter conditions and drove a car with winter tyres; the difference is amazing. If I could get some that fit I would be tempted to get some Michelin Cross Climates here (it would help if we had more than a week's snow every year).
Well just to cheer you up.My son in law works in Castleford, it just took him an hour and a half to get there from Brough, No.1 daughter works in Leeds and hasn’t gone in.
I decided to avoid this week and jet off to the sun, it’s not quite planned out...

Seems Evans is favourite to be next Posh manager.
If you wanna stop over, we can go to a game and hurl abuse at the ****er for 90 mins at their next home game if he gets it.
1. It's not any excuse.god help this country and 90% of the population of we did actually get bad winter weather!! It's just any excuse to cancel trains, close school etc.... Parents are fined if they take kids out of school during term time because it has such a negative effect on the kids education, I bet these schools that have used the mm of snow to close won't be offering these days back during the next half term so the kids education doesn't suffer!
Yet again other countries must just be pointing and laughing!
Evans resigned as manager of Mansfield, looks set for the Posh hot-seat!!! Hope its been reinforced to accommodate the lard arse.Well just to cheer you up.
