How the **** did this change from the weather to the weller.
Back on track a weather story, not mine copied from some farming forum.
I got a phone call from a near neighbour this afternoon asking if I could help as his elderly uncle had collapsed and the ambulance could not get to the village.
When I arrived at the back of 2 ambulances with the telehandler I could just see people about 100 metres ahead (it was blowing a real hoolie at the time) I couldn’t get passed the ambulances so I walked down to the commotion, the old chap was lying in the drifts with the 4 paramedics giving him attention. He was wrapped in a blanket.
I asked if we could get him on a stretcher and carry him back to the ambulance, the young paramedic said no that it was to dangerous and could cause more injuries.
I told him to get a bloody grip, he told me not to swear at him!!
The neighbour who called me was there and agreed with me that between us we could get him to the ambulance but the paramedic said no.
So they started to drag him through the snow like a bag of tatties towards his house around 300 metres in the opposite direction from the ambulance.
One of the paramedics was trying to get other ambulances to come from other directions but the other road to the village was blocked by even deeper drifts!
I walked back to the telehandler and started to clear the road from behind the 2 ambulances back to a corner that I knew they would be able to get turned at.
A Scottish Ambulance four wheel drive merc van and hilux pick up then turned up, they were “ control unit” vehicles. The gaffer told me that the old chap definitely needed to get to hospital so he got the ambulances backed up to the corner that I had cleared to let me passed. I apologised to him for swearing at the young guy but told him that I thought it was disgusting that dragging the old chap through the snow seemed to be fine but putting him on a body board and bringing him back to the ambulance was going to cause more trouble!!!
I then spent two hours clearing a track through drifts over 6 feet deep to the house so that the hilux could get through and get the old chap back to the ambulance.
There was also a PC there who heard what I said and even he agreed with me!
The old chap is now recovering in the local hospital and I was thanked profusely by the ambulance gaffer who said that the young paramedic was a new start who did everything by the book, but he would be told about using some common sense in appropriate situations!!

Love The Jam - got me into loads of stuff when I was younger. Quite like The Style Council but I find his solo stuff, apart from the odd song, drab as.
I was slightly perplexed by him giving his blessing to a whole load of awful ****e in the 90s too, some of whom 'commercially' surpassed him too.
I like Weller himself though and I'm pleased that he seems to be reigniting his political voice too.
My lad is a big fan of Jam and Paul Weller. Said to him years ago when he first started liking them that it was hard to figure who his inspiration for image, hairstyle etc was.

I am sure you will all be relieved to know my delayed delivery of coffee beans has arrived. Was down to last few. Can stop practising the arms folded, sad face look in front of a jar of instant for when the media arrive to ask how I am coping with the trauma caused by the Beast From The East.
Pre-internet, bands like The Jam were 'gateway' bands for the likes of me.
From there I found TSF, The Action, The Creation etc.
Found a new way of dressing etc.
Good times.
Saw all them live. Creation was a great favourite.Put those three on a bill with Alan Bown Set, Jimmy James, Cliff Bennett and Geno Washington, all of which I saw as well and it would have been perfection.
Remember buying this when it came out. First record where someone played guitar with a violin bow. The two sides on this are amongst my favourite two sided singles.

Class. Ten or so years back, I was in a lock-in with one the members of Creation. Can't for the life of me remember which one, but he was making electronic or dance music at the time.
I copied the violin bow on guitar once - totally based on seeing Painter Man - I totally ****ed it up too.
Amazing that the singer on that single and Paibter Man with them made the most money by getting co-writing credits on Grandad with Herbie Flowers who played bass on Take A Walk On The Wild Side.
How long ago was the lock in? The original singer, Kenny Pickett, died some time ago, his replacement, Bob Garner, who he disliked intensely, died in 2016 just leaving Eddie Philips the lead guitarist still with us. Ronnie Wood and Mick Avory the drummer of the Kinks both played with them briefly for reformations of the band.
I think it was about 2005 or 2006.
Was there any different people in post-60s reformations of the band? I can't remember his story now, apart from that he was making some sort of electronic music (at that point) and I can't remember if that was a private-project or if it was something he was playing live or publishing.
I spoke to him for well over an hour, gleaning stories and info I can sadly no longer recall.
His credentials were validated by some trusted older timers who were also present, so I'm pretty sure he wasn't bullshitting me.
