Amazing that the singer on that single and Paibter Man with them made the most money by getting co-writing credits on Grandad with Herbie Flowers who played bass on Take A Walk On The Wild Side.

How long ago was the lock in? The original singer, Kenny Pickett, died some time ago, his replacement, Bob Garner, who he disliked intensely, died in 2016 just leaving Eddie Philips the lead guitarist still with us. Ronnie Wood and Mick Avory the drummer of the Kinks both played with them briefly for reformations of the band.

Pretty sure it was Bob Garner.

Has some dance stuff around the period I mentioned

I think it was about 2005 or 2006.

Was there any different people in post-60s reformations of the band? I can't remember his story now, apart from that he was making some sort of electronic music (at that point) and I can't remember if that was a private-project or if it was something he was playing live or publishing.

I spoke to him for well over an hour, gleaning stories and info I can sadly no longer recall.

His credentials were validated by some trusted older timers who were also present, so I'm pretty sure he wasn't bullshitting me.

There were quite a lot of people went through their ranks, as can be seen here.https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Creation_(band)

Always preferred Kenny Pickett as singer, though Garner had a better mod image.Eddie Philips, the lead guitarist, was very influential, as were the band. I can remember some lads in local bands at the time more influenced by Philips than better known guitarists.

One thing that this inclement weather has brought to mind is the often used reference to the windchill factor, like it's 0C but feels like -5 or whatever. Back in the late 1950's early 1960's we had a couple of bad winters but I don't recall anything about a windchill factor, if it was 32F or less then it was freezing, and that was it.

Agree.

Love The Jam - got me into loads of stuff when I was younger. Quite like The Style Council but I find his solo stuff, apart from the odd song, drab as.

I was slightly perplexed by him giving his blessing to a whole load of awful ****e in the 90s too, some of whom 'commercially' surpassed him too.

I like Weller himself though and I'm pleased that he seems to be reigniting his political voice too.

Don’t get drawn in Leon. Bumchin would do himself more good by just saying he hates PW. That’s the crux if it. He was more popular than Moz in the 80s & it hurts old Bummers. The fact PW is still more popular & Moz has turned into a bit of a right wing, racist hypocrite whilst PW has maintained a level of influence & song writing variations that old racist Moz could only dream of hurts him more. Bummers feels Moz’s pain for him.

The fact is to actually believe all PW’s stuff sounds the same you’d have had to listen to it all. Bummer’s hasn’t, so his opinion on how it sounds is unsubstantiated ignorance.

If he thinks PW’s a **** then fair play. He can even pretend Mozza’s happy about it.

Bummers must be 50 odd but I think he secretly wishes he was younger so he acts like a child to convince & placate his ego.

Ha.

To be fair, I gave up circa Heavy Soul. So, apart from the odds song I hear…

I gave up with Morrissey around a similar time – lost interest totally. I see him as an irrelevance these days, although he seems to hold some concerning views.

BCC posted his Twitter up a while back - deffo younger than the big Hawaii 5-0. Early 40s I’d suggest.

2,500 fans of TWS at Boro for a televised game in lousy weather. As many as seem to have travelled across Hull to watch FC tonight looking at the pictures on TV.

Boiling kettle over the condensing/waste pipe outside?
This time it was the outlet pipe that takes the water underneath the boiler.
Next door was both things you mention.
It was that solid I'd have Had to boil kettle and climb on to the extension roof a fair few times

That's because in the 50's we were little more than savages and heathens.

The Human race has since become civilised and sophisticated.

Brecon Beacons 1990 (somewhere near Llangattick escarpment) and even Castro would have had to put an extra layer on.

The weather was that bad we couldn’t put our bivvies up (due to the wind) and basically slept on the ground in piss wet through doss bags in driving sleet and subzero conditions.
That was the cosy bit, doing a 2 hour stag with just a poncho to protect you was rather testing, as I recall.

Two lads got frost bite.

Character building stuff.

Somebody should tell this guy in Dublin that the Winter Olympics are now over and 'freestyle diving' is more of a Summer Olympics event.

Checking into 4* plus hotels didn’t do my character any harm.
