Don't have a problem with Sterling wanting to leave - I don't blame him. No doubt he could have handled this better, so it's a shame to see him tarnish his reputation after he became of our best players over past 18 months (bar last 4-5 months).

Get the money in and IF we get Pedro alongside Firmino, I won't bat an eye lid!

he's seriously tarnished it he is now rah££m not raheem and he's worse than that he's being inconsistent and whiny now at this point. he is now unprofessional and obviously learned absolutely nothing from the way pepe reina handled himself.... as one fine example.

he went on tour to USA last year and got down to his work.

this little **** wants to stay home and wait for his bid and train with exactly who?

ergo he wants it easy....

In previous eras his form alone would have dropped him out of england set up (even 7/8 years ago) but go back 25-30 years and he'd not even get considered due to attitude.

Put it this way. Fergusion ant utd wouldn't look twice at him. I'd say van gaal would laugh if offered him if not for the obvious pandering to fans by winding lfc up that he could do. Mourinho i can absolutely bet has zero interest in him but had that story put out to have LFC given a dig.

Real madrid? prob the same.. you can never tell with them at the top.... so we end up back with wenger and arsenal and city whomever it is there.

City NEED players.

Wenger? I reckon he would say hmmmmm.... 6 months ago yes, now.. no way..

this will nly get resolved when city open the wallet.

Lacazette and firmino.... pedro is a luxury. After all we have the hair...

It'll be yesterdays news in a few weeks, he'll have done no long term damage to his reputation, that's just nonsense being spread by the kopite mafia like Barnes and big nose.

Plenty of players act in the same petulant manner all the time, and it has no lasting effect in reality. As much as we as fans might want it to, it simply doesn't in the modern game.

Why would the Tribunal amount be so low? is there a limit? Isn't it like Ings will be higher because spurs put in the bid. Surely with City putting two bids in they've accepted how much they think he's worth already. So we say sod you, you're here to stay.

Tell him he's in the squad and must be available to play but trains alone and on the bench until attitude improves ....fine him the weekly maximum each week he doesn't turn up. Wee money grabbing bastard like this? He'll not last two years before he caves...

2 years would have passed and he'd only have played reserve team football...

As I say it was mostly a rant but I honestly think we'd break him within a couple of months, year at most, especially with Euros coming up..oh Roy would keep picking him because he's an arse with a chip but then he'll just get injured.....

The purse strings would tighten round the the little ****s neck and the CSA would loom large behind him.....

its like this; who in europe will take him on in 2 years time on a free?

probably nobody as he will be the equivilant of SWP then. He could go to MLS i suppose and play with LA galaxy i suppose <laugh>

The euros should be in his eyeline by now as i really would not give him a game at LFC. England will have enough options if all are fit not to pick him either..

In the end the ball is in city's court. they are the ones who wanted him and have been talking to said agent. one thing is for sure no add os would be allowed by me.. no chance. he's not going to last 2 years at city.

You can't moan too loudly, as him and City are only doing to you, exactly what you and Lovren did to Soton last summer.

Ayre needs to negotiate a fee with City and bring it to a conclusion asap.
As frank pointed out, a lot of us were uneasy about the way Lovren engineered his move, at the time. We still thought we were getting a decent player, so we were wrong there. <doh>

For me, it's more to do with the fact that Sterling is a young lad, with loads of potential, but is nowhere near the finished article. It annoys me that so many kids with promise think they deserve to play at the very top without working their way up there with a solid output of consistent performances for a few years. It means the top clubs swallow up all the talent, but also that talent often fails to develop because they don't get the game time they need.
I was nowhere near as miffed over Suarez, because his age and his consistent performance level meant it was the right time (from his point of view), to make what is a dream move for most Latin American players. Also, despite all the background shenanigans, he always gave full commitment to the team on the pitch.
In comparison, Sterling is just a sulky brat who needs a kick up the arse.

Sky claiming that Liverpool have "categorically denied" reports (made by Sky) that Raheem Sterling had told the club he wanted to leave because he doesn't want to play under Brendan Rodgers.

I agree with every word mate, but this latest saga is just another sad indictment of where PL football is in 2015. A young, far from the finished article player, turning his nose up at £5m a year in wages, as he knows he can get £7.5m. It defies belief, but it's the current reality.

haven't got a problem with City, and i haven't got a problem with saints fans sticking it to Lovren. In fact, if Lil' Rim puts in a transfer request I'll have no problem with him either.

Our best player while Suarez was in the team? Not. He was definitely the most improved player in the team in the 13/14 season, but, a few games aside, he didn't continue that progress without Luis in the side (who did, to be fair?).

Edit; missed the 'one of'...

Fair point.

However, towards the end of 13/14, he was actually better than Suarez IMO - he was changing games (no doubt thanks to Suarez's contribution).

And he was actually our best player up until Xmas in 14/15 - he was practically carrying our attack and was playing well. It's a shame because he will only be remembered for the past 6 months and the way he's handling the transfer.

Massive talent IMO and one of the best youngsters in world football - sad to see him go but I mentioned before, if we got Firmino and someone like Pedro for the same price, then that is great business.

****.... no way was sterling carrying anyone at any time. He did his bit but reality check.... big reality check.

9 goals and 5 assists in a season when we scored 100??

The only thing going for him is he played way less minutes than last season and scored more.

9 goals and 5 assists for a 19 year old, who played wide but also adapted to a central role, playing alongside SAS is pretty damn good. We're talking about a 19 year old who not only didn't look out of place in arguably the 2nd best attack in the world that season but also contributed heavily, especially when Suarez went through a brief lull.

And for the first 6 months of this season gone, he was our best player. By far. Coutinho hadn't hit form by that point but fans remember the most recent form - if Coutinho and Sterling swap their seasons and if Sterling hadn't tried to leave, I don't think we'll be downplaying his contribution. <ok>
