Safe to say your goalie was quite luminous last night Fulhaman, and just as well for you theirs did a Button.
 
Well, Manchester United it is then. Be interesting to see them - haven't seen them live in years. To be honest, though, I'd be very surprised if we got the better of them and think this will probably be it for us this year. Still it will allow us to concentrate on the League and the Copa Del Rey.

Are you now wishing you had dipped it and gone into the Europa, Fulhaman?

Not so sure you need to be too pessimistic though. Your only real blip so far was in Russia. February's a long way off l, Berizzo will be back in full shape and reckon having them at home in the first leg is in your favour as well.
 
We will need to make the most of that 1st leg. Unfortunately the weather will be kind to them - it is generally only about mid 50's in February, I mean we get the odd day when it's a fair bit warmer, but not at night, not at that time of year. Seville is on a plain and it fries in summer but gets quite nippy in winter. It's usually colder here than it is in, say Malaga which is only about 40 odd miles away, during winter. Today, for example Malaga is about 20 degrees but we are sitting here at 15 degrees. The temperature inland doesn't ramp up until between March and April - so it will be more what they are used to in Manchester.

But you are right. We only really played poorly against the Russians (and the first half against Liverpool). Whatever we will be sure to give old José Mário dos Santos Mourinho Félix a warm welcome as a former Real Madrid manager.

We've had no oven for several months, so our recent troubles can't be pinned on me. I'm happy to say that as of a couple of days ago our new kitchen is just about done, and Mrs Captain's legendary biscuits have already made an appearance - but not, I hasten to add, on a match day!

Shocking actually, there was no indication this was coming. The fans haven't been particularly unhappy and he's only just come back from cancer surgery so this seems particularly heartless. The board say it is due to a bad run, but it hasn't been that bad, to be honest. Luis Enrique has been mentioned by some papers in the last week or so, but I thought it was exactly that, paper-talk. Apparently not. Would have loved to see how Big Sam would have managed us (joking).
 
Not the outcome you and 40,000 compadres would have wanted Fulhaman but quite a goal-fest in the local derby against Betis. Certainly sounds more entertaining than we sat through at the Cottage today!
 
It was officially described as chaotic by the club presser. And it was. They scored in the first minute and the 95th minute and in-between it was one of the best games I've seen in a long time. We were not good but they were excellent and deserved the result, there was no luck about it. The Señora was devastated but at least I can retain a certain detachment - although it is not good for my health to do so too visibly in front of her - so for the look of the thing I must wail, gnash my teeth and spit and curse (she is especially good at the cursing bit - all Spanish woman are).

But it's funny how worlds collide isn't it with Montella being a Fulham old boy, I was actually at the cottage when he scored his first goal for us against Tottenham. It was a penalty if I remember rightly. It was the Mexican who got rid of him, wasn't it?

Bit happier tonight Fulhaman? You do love the Cup.

Guess the rest of us are quite please too, give it was Atletico Madrid you knocked out.

Talk about luck - 1 - 0 down with 10 mins to go then an own goal and a last minute winner. Maybe our name is on the cup. Especially sweet to knock out Atletico with Diego Costa scoring for them as well.

Indeed. And the semi-final draw was kind putting us up against Leganes, who beat Real Madrid. Barcelona play Valencia in the other semi-final. We are ar home for the second leg, which I always feel is an advantage. We play on Wednesday and then the following Wednesday (07/02/18).
 
Not a cool result on a chilly willy night yesterday, Fulhaman. Opposite of Fulham when it comes to injury time!
