quick question (o/t) martinez is the mastermind behind your success. i think you'd agree that its one thing tweaking a playing style as sousa and rogers did, one thing to take a team and successfully make a transition to a completely different style.... so why has he been with all due respect struggling around the relegation zone for 3 years? i appreciate he took over a wigan side which has reigned in the spending since bruce was there but still?
Because he hasn't any defensive tactical nous. Sousa instilled that in the team after he left but at the expense of goals. Rodgers came along and unshackled the forwards but his best move was signing Sinclair who was sensational in the Championship.

I think this depends how bad the results are. I don't think they will give him 2-3 years under any circumstances. If they have 1 point after 10 matches, then he will be deemed a failure. If they finish 8th and seem to be improving, then they will keep him. The 2-3 seasons thing is bound to be dependent on things actually going to plan. Also, owners/chairmen have to say hings like that. They are hardly likely to say "We have a new manager and if we lose the first 5 matches he's gone". It just doesn't work like that. Yes, he'll be given time. But only if the club are moving forwards and not backwards.
