I think that would make 5 I a row: Tommy Smith, Tom Cleverley, Danny Graham, Aidy Mariappa and AA (if he goes). If I had the choice of keeping Abdi or Vydra I'd go for Abdi. Hope we don't lose both :shocked:
 
Looks like Reece Brown (younger brother of Wes) is joining the squad in Italy as is Daniel Pudil (twitter). Doesn't say if the former is on trial, on loan or permanent signing though on Wikipedia it says he is out of contract.

I expect that over the next day of two the squad will start to take shape.

With regards to the rumours of signing Sam Byram, Will Hughes or Nathan Redmond, I would be surprised (though delighted) if we could get any of these players as they are all very highly thought of and have been linked to a number of premier league teams.

Having said that, I think that Watford has more appeal now than it did in recent years - the quality of football and the prospect of Premier league football...

Off on hols next week then back for the open day - I wonder who I will be meeting :)

norway posted this earlier on the short news item thread - suggesting that the rumour regarding the teenage signing is about this guy & he is heading to Italy with the squad.

Afraid not - off to the states for a couple of weeks with the family. Happy to (try to) translate some Italian press reports if anyone wants though - I got an 'A' in my 1 year GSCE Italian don't you know ;) ....although that was about 13 years ago and I don't know how far scusi, c'e una banca qui vicino will get me (excuse me is there a bank near here)

A couple of Italians joined my lab 4 months back and I have been brushing up on my Italian recently so if the club need a translator I will offer my services :)

re: the young man from Reading - I hadn't heard anything but there are a few clues on his twitter page :)

He sounds like a good prospect but I must say I am not as excited as had it been one of the other 3 I mentioned.

I never got around to commenting when the preseason fixtures came out but was anyone else as underwhelmed as I was?

Away to 2 'lower tier' teams that aren't exactly 'local' and home to a 2nd tier US team whose best players include a former Villareal midfielder 5 years past his best and Jemal Johnson (former MK Dons 'star'). Meanwhile QPR play Udinese - cant help but feel we missed a trick here - although there may have been a little too much love in the air (and if some Udinese players saw the vic they may have requested a season in the south of spain instead!)

Could be a psychological move by the Pozzos - maybe as QPR are Championship favourites they think that handing them a thrashing in pre-season will set them on a downward spiral and enhance our prospects. <whistle>

Trouble is if QPR lose to our reserve team, they will have time to get in better players/manager.
 
Due to the changes in the loan system I think Watford should sign ALL the groups players and loan them back to Udinese & Granada!
There is no rule against that is there? :)

Being of very fair skin - an all white away strip alongside a bright yellow home kit would be very bad :P

I'd like to see a good black and yellow number...
