@WatfordTalk: This picture makes me very happy. It's like Marco is their Dad. http://t.co/BoqgqTEGxL @CrisBatto18: Now we are ready !!! Ora siamo pronti !! Come On watford!!! @CassettiMarco @Fores41 http://t.co/cGqv0unbLL @Fores41: Yesss!!!! Battochigno!!!! @CrisBatto18 come back!!!! http://t.co/0nl0gKPqzf I'd say its looking highly likely Battocchio and Cassetti are back!!
The photos and twitterings seem to confirm that Cassetti and Battocchio will be joining us again next season - what a day to be a hornet! Do you think there are as many smiling players at other preseason get-togethers around the country? With so much good feeling about the club its no wonder McGugan and Ikpeazu decided to join the revolution! Starting to feel very confident about the coming season - in fact I'll stick my neck out and say I don't think I have EVER been this confident going into a season supporting the orns. What were other supporters saying about us at the end of the season?? "they'll struggle without all their loanees" "the loanees don't care about Watford" "transfer embargo" "they will be so down after losing the playoffs" etc etc......HAHAHAHAHA
Another new one we are looking at; http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp....Watford_looking_to_sign_Romero_from_Udinese/ Seems to be a leftback/midfielder - competition for the LWB role for Pudil? Also has a list of who is out training in Italy at the moment; "Romero, Angella and Faraoni are currently on Watford's pre-season trip to Italy whilst Acuna is expected to link up with the Hornets next week. But it is unclear when Fabbrini will join the camp. A number of Udinese and Granada players who were on loan at Watford last season are at the Hornets' camp in Italy. Marco Cassetti, Joel Ekstrand, Ikechi Anya, Daniel Pudil, Almen Abdi and Cristian Battocchio are all there. Former Manchester United defender Reece Brown, who was released in the summer, and a trialist goalkeeper are also in Mals, northern Italy, with the squad. However, we understand it is not 100 per cent certain that all of the players at the training camp will definitely sign with the club. New signing Uche Ikpeazu is already with the squad and Lewis McGugan will fly out this week. Scholars Dan Wilks, Carl Stewart and George Byers are also training with the first team."
However, we understand it is not 100 per cent certain that all of the players at the training camp will definitely sign with the club. That's the key line, I mean it's all looking rosy but we need to know who has signed and where. My only concern is that we're again having an influx of new players again and we may well have a slower start to the season which cost us last year.
On the basis of last year, who is new, and who is back; GK - Looks like a new keeper, Bond CB - Looks like we will have Nos, Hoban, Ekstrand, Doyley, Cassetti from last season. New Angella WB - Back: Anya, Pudil. New: Romero, Faraoni MF - Back: Hogg, Battocchio, Abdi, Murray, Smith. New: McGugan FW - Back: Deeney & FF. New: Acuna, Ikpeazu & Fabbrini. From that, we can put out a starting 11 from last season - and would be a very good one at that; -----------------Bond-------------- ---Doyely-----Ekstrand-----Cassetti (assuming Nos and Hoban injured on day 1) Anya------------------------Pudil ----------Hogg---Battocchio------- --------------Abdi---------------- -------FF------------------------ --------------Deeney------------ I'd suggest those from last season will sign on. Hopefully they will be announced soon enough - I just think they are working out between the management and the players who signs permanently, who signs on loan
Rumour is Romero, Acuna, Faraoni, Fabbrini are all loans. So is Battocchio. All others from Udinese will either not come or be on permanent deals Does mean only 4 of those above can play on a matchday
Martin K ‏@MKlinteberg Ekstrand just texted me that he is in Italy with Watford but it's not decided if he Will stay or not - Watford wants him though! #watfordfc Watford Talk ‏@WatfordTalk @MKlinteberg Does that indicate that he's not 100% sure if he wants to stay or not? Martin K ‏@MKlinteberg @WatfordTalk Got the feeling that Joel wants to stay and that Watford want him - everything would be solved in a few days A conversation on Twitter. Does sound like the Udinese/Granada guys are being assessed, and talks are probably ongoing with agents etc.
I had just spotted that as well Kev. I think that the theory put out about this being a sorting out exercise might be quite close to the mark. Just because someone is out there doesn't mean they will be with us next season.
Hope this one isn't true: James Nursey ‏@JamesNursey 3h Watford midfielder Jonathan Hogg wants to return to his native north east. #WFC will sell him if buyer found Mind you, it is from the Daily Mirror....
Apparently we've had a loan bid turned down for Gary Gardner at Villa - a central midfielder Chelsea have had a bid accepted for another midfielder. Wonder if it's worth making a loan bid for Chalobah for another season...
Seen a suggestion that the keeper could be Ross Turnbull, who has just been released on a free by Chelsea.
Would be happy with that. Out of the frees I suggested Schwarzer or Turnball would be good options... Although Schwarzer might be a bit too expensive, but a good stop-gap until Bond is ready!
