Acuna is a 24 year old Paraguayan striker. He's scored 21 goals in 55 apps for Girona, who play in the Spanish Second Division. He can also play as a winger. Acuna is owned by Real Madrid B. 5ft 9in tall.

Some confusion there - is he Paraguayan or Uruguayan? Sounds like a deal has already been struck:

"The Elche will be without one of the players who wanted to strengthen the front. Everything points to Girona footballer Javier Acuña play next season in the ChampionChip Watford, England's second highest category. The Uruguayan striker has opted for the best financial offer of the English, which offers a much higher amounts to which he was willing to go the club Elche.
Even Acuña has reached a tentative agreement on a team that also militates Spanish goalkeeper Almunia and this season has been on the verge of promotion to the Premier League.
Paraguayan striker gratefully acknowledges the interest of Elche, which has negotiated with his agent, but in the end, it was decided by the best Watford's financial offer."

Would love to know how we "militate" Almunia - not to mention how long we have been playing in the ChampionChip. :)

Re: Craig Forsyth transfer speculation. #watfordfc have turned down a bid from a Champ club as it does not meet the club’s valuation

Glad to see we won't be a soft touch for players going out, even if they're not really in our plans!

Good news - afterall Doyley is one of the few fit defenders we have ATM!

People on the other forums say we have other defenders but 3 are injured and Anya, Ekstrand etc haven't signed yet...

Here was me thinking that is normal! <whistle>

Slightly (actually well) off topic, but isn't it strange that we think of curry as quintessentially Indian and lager as German as the Kaiser. But in fact no-one in India calls it "curry" and most "Indian" restaurants are run by Bangladeshis. "Lager" means "store" in German and is not used there to describe beer at all. "Pilsener" is the term for bottom fermented beer which, by common consent, originated in Pilsen, now in the Czech Republic.

Rumours are abounding that Peterborough have signed Britt Assombalonga on a 6-month loan. A good step up for the young lad, I have said I would like to see him step up a league after he proved he could hold his own in Lg2, now to dominate in Lg1 before a run out in the championship. We dont need to rush his development, but we dont want to keep him down. If he does well, let him step up for a new challenge.

that also may have something to do with the pre season game at posh ,maybe part of a deal!
