I cannot believe that it is 16 years since Holton's death. I started watching Watford in his first stint at the club and nothing Oli says about him is an exaggeration. That article still brings the odd tear to my eye when I remember his shots and goals, especially with the old heavy leather ball. He hit a shot once at the Rookery End which thudded into the iron railings (where I was standing as a boy) which used to surround the pitch (and greyhound flapper track) . I swear the railings were vibrating for a minute or so afterwards.
Great player - and to score 48 goals in a season, WOW!
Thanks for reminding me. I only saw Cliff in his second spell with us and he was the team. I don't think i have ever seen a player who imposed himself on a game more than Cliff.

There is talk doing the rounds now in several places about a new under 21 league.
The teams included are: Newcastle, Tottenham, Southampton, Stoke, Man Utd, Watford, Sunderland and Aston Villa.

I would love to see us in such a league, I think our youngsters have been disadvantaged since we withdrew our reserves from competitive football.
Would be a very good idea... and maybe an indication we might get Cat 1 status for our Academy?

I thought our Academy was one of the things that attracted the Pozzos to us. If this is the case it would seem short sighted of them if they didn't make sure that we got Cat 1 status. I read somewhere that the lack of a youth set up put them off buying Charlton.
Still a rumour at the moment, but quite a few sources now saying that DJ Campbell having medical at Watford today.
I really don't want DJ joining us. I remember too well he snubbed us as not big enough for him when Aidy chased him, no ones too good for Watford!!!
i remember that too, so with him and Fitz Hall, i don't think Aidy will be visiting any time soon! lol
