When are these figures from? I'm surprised that Balotelli will have taken such a huge drop in wages when moving from Man City.
No wonder its said some youngsters think they've made it and aren't that bothered about putting the work! Not saying Chalobah is going to be like that though.
Must have been the season before, Sneijder was at Galatasaray last season? I think so anyways? Seems low for the top salary for a Milan or Juventus player. Maybe they're after tax?
I totally agree with people when they say that the wages are ludicrous but that's life in the English football league (even in the lower leagues the pay is nuts) but my point is the big players who get you promotion are the usually the top earners Will our cheap Udinese cast offs win us promotion......only time will tell but it certainly appears definite that the Pozzo's are not going to invest in big players or new stands for Watford Fc
Not sure why you are saying that there will be no new stand when the preparation work is actually in hand. I don't know if it has started, but permission has been given by the council.
The thing is, would Chalobah be an automatic starter? We saw last season that he was struggling towards the end of the season, but we had to play him as we didn't have many other options. We now have Iriney in that role, and McGugan who can play deeper, so think Chalobah would be rotated. He also hasn't had much game time/preseason (other than the Under-21s), so will need to be eased into it. I would love him back, but at a cost that is reasonable for the club. Even if we contribute 'just' £10k a week until the end of May, that's almost another £400k on the wage bill - and suspect Chelsea will be wanting a bigger contribution than that The Pozzo's aren't here because they love Watford Football Club. They have seen an opportunity where they can grow a club and eventually profit from without putting the club or their own wealth at risk. It will not be a quick transition... they need to build the club up slowly. I feel we've almost been spoilt by the promotion push last season, so expectations have gone through the roof. If we only finished mid-table, I think most would expect a play-off push and continued stability.
"it certainly appears definite that the Pozzo's are not going to invest in big players or new stands for Watford Fc" The issue here is how / why do you think they or any owner should? We are talking another £1M+ a year wages on one player. Why do you think they will bank roll that sort of money? or why do you think they have the resources to do that multiple times over? I think the expectations have gone unreasonably out of control to where we were just over one season ago with Bassini, and before that with Simpson. The Pozzos are a breath of fresh air after what we have had before, and will run the club properly...
We've had some awful seasons recently, it's a breath of fresh air having the Pozzos in charge but there's no need to be too impatient. As long as we keep our best players/get them on long term contracts I can't ask for much more. We've been spoilt by having a team of Champions League (well nearly) standard players arrive and now people are talking with certainty about being automatically promoted this season. The championship doesn't work like that...
I suppose that we might have to become used to this type of rumour. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/sunderland-eye-gianfranco-zola-next-2296194
The sense I have is that GV is too loyal, or at least has a sense of obligation to us and the Pozzos, to consider going to Sunderland.
I notice that the Football Rumours site now only accepts postings from registered users. Bit of a shame really as they are down to around two rumours a day and it used to be quite fun reading some of the more audacious/made up ones.
Another young midfielder coming in? http://www1.skysports.com/transfer-centre/papertalk Been out for a long time so would need a spell to gain match fitness.
Baggie to come on loan http://www.expressandstar.com/sport...et-to-sign-west-broms-george-thorne-on-loan/?
"But Clarke wants first team football for him now and could not have a better moment to fix him up with Watford with Albion currently boasting so much depth in midfield even Chris Brunt, James Morrison and Graham Dorrans couldn’t get a game on Sunday." And of course we have no midfielders of our own...
Alexander Merkel - Udinese. Twitter saying his agent reckons we are after him or that bound to be an agent trying to sell his player who isn't in the team?
