West Ham, Sunderland and Everton are all monitoring developments with Vlaar, although a move abroad, with Italy as the destination, is more likely than a Premier League switch.

We know we can compete with them for wages... Gichherini said he was earning more here than in his entire life!

Yeah but Giacc will have been on less than 10k a week a Juve. Can't overstate enough how high premiership wages are compared to the rest of Europe. If Giacc is on 30k a week he'll probably have got over 300% pay rise.

Should be able to compete for wages for him though I agree. Would be a good signing but we'll need to sell the future too him as I'm sure he's had his fill of relegation battles and Everton or West Ham will be a much more attractive prospect.

Championship side Derby County have made a bid to sign Sunderland midfielder Liam Bridcutt, according to FLW Sources.

Bridcutt is a target for Derby County

The Black Cats signed the central midfielder from Brighton on January 2014 deadline day in a £2.5 million deal.

He could be looking to force a move away from the Stadium of Light this summer with two years left on his contract, and it is understood that Sheffield Wednesday are also interested.

Derby County have been by far the most active team in the Championship this summer, signing five players so far. Bridcutt would be the first midfielder to link up with the club, following Darren Bent, Alex Pearce, Andreas Weimann, Scott Carson and Chris Baird to the iPro Stadium

They’re gunning for promotion next season under Paul Clement after a disappointing end to the 2014/15 campaign.

Imho, some years we make rash early signings and quite a few of them, I'm hoping the more measured approach reflects a search for the quality player Advocaat suggested that we need.

If you look at the signings made a) how many would we have had a chance of signing bearing in mind who the actually signed for, e.g Ings to Liverpool, Trippier to the Spuds or b) were they the quality signings we needed.

Only Richards going to Villa would have been a nice to have, the others would not have been universally welcomed I suspect.

Personally, I'd be happy to keep Bridcutt. I just think he's a good work-in-progress lad for the PL. He shows a lot of ability, but occasional lapses in judgement. That can come with experience.

Bamford and Byrim ? (Leeds defender) will not do it in the premier league, let's get Van persie or Austin on loan now and we mean business. Jelavic from Hull also.

I agree - but the crowd turn on him very quickly with a misplaced pass and that impacts his game too. H needs to shrug that off - I think he'll be gone personally - he's not "real madrid" standard as Gus said! I reckon he's "Gus's Bastard" to use a Game of Thrones term!

The quicker that we get rid of Liam Birdcage the better, 'cos he's absolutely ****e (in the Premier League at least) :emoticon-0101-sadsm

Give him to Derby and see if he's decent at that level, and I'll wish him well . . . . as long as it's not on loan and I never see him at The Stadium again :emoticon-0105-wink:

I played yesterday, as I do every sunday morning, and I'm sure that I'm better than that useless twat :emoticon-0103-cool:

He's shown some flashes of good play - too few and far between but occasional glimpses - is obviously capable of some very good passing - think it was the swansea Defoe goal that he set up with a lovely "round the corner" pass! Just wish we'd seen a consistent 90 minutes from him! Let alone a number of consistent games!
