Hull-born Queens Park Rangers star Keith Sanderson tragically dies on Christmas Eve after crash

Keith won the 1967 Football League Cup for Queens Park Rangers

The team was coached by the flamboyant football legend Malcolm Allison, who later moved on to Man City. Keith was rated highly by Allison as a strong-running midfield ‘ball winner’, signing him for non-league Bath City in 1963 and later for 3rd Division Plymouth Argyle the following year, alongside the likes of Tony Book.

Keith came across many successes in his footballing career, including playing and beating Oxford University at Wembley on two occasions as a Cambridge Blue. However the highlight has to be being signed to Queens Park Rangers, where he won the 3rd Division Championship and beat first Division West Bromwich Albion 3-2 at Wembley in front of 98,000 spectators, overcoming a half-time 2-0 deficit in 1967.

One of the Pointer Sisters is no longer automatic.
Anita Pointer, a member of Grammy-winning group the Pointer Sisters - whose hits included I'm So Excited and Jump (For My Love) - has died of cancer aged 74.

Her publicist Roger Neal said she died surrounded by her family at her Beverly Hills home on Saturday.

RIP <rose>

Crystal Palace are mourning the loss of former goalkeeper John Jackson, who has passed away at the age of 80.

A decent goalie if memory serves me well.

RIP <rose>

So sad so many of these players I first saw as a schoolboy are passing away now. One of our sports teachers was Alan Pinkney who played for Palace but taught at our school in the summer term. He always said what a great keeper Jackson was and he certainly kept Palace up in their 1st season in the top division. Never played for England although he was good enough. RIP...

So amazing that she got to go home and leave with family, friends and loved ones - well done to Mr Ferguson to make sure it happened for her and everyone who knew and loved her at home. Never easy seeing someone let life slip away, but so young is a tragedy really.
