I’m saddened to learn of Lanegan’s departure. The Screaming Trees’ “Sweet Oblivion” long player is a very accessible listen and one of my favourites.

Just read on the Beeb that she’d been bed bound for some years after breaking her back. Hope the poor soul knew little about her fate.

RIP Rod, great player and along with Lillee and Thomson were the first really in your face Aussies I can remember seeing live. They seemed to almost invent sledging between them.
Part of the fearsome Australian side that had Lillie and Thompson as their opening bowlers, but always played within the spirit of the game...... sledging on the pitch, beers off it...... he was the wicket keeper in that infamous underarm final ball incident between Australia and New Zealand and you can see him saying "don't do it" and looking absolutely disgusted at what was unfolding......... 74 is no age these days, but he certainly packed a lot into those years.....
