For anyone interested, some good programs on 6 Music today celebrating the life of Toots.

Really enjoyed listening to this one...

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m00026w4

"Toots" Hibbert, the leader of the influential reggae/ska band Toots & the Maytals, shares his musical milestones with Matt Everitt.
In this in-depth interview Toots, one of the founding figures of reggae music, talks about the remarkable path his career has taken. Starting off with his earliest experiences of singing at church and in school in Jamaica, to making his own guitar and meeting other musicians in Kingston.
Toots recalls his time working in a barber shop, and has colourful tales of supporting the Who, winning a Grammy for Best Reggae Album and the band’s 50th anniversary tour. First broadcast in 2018

Like many, l am shocked at the passing of an Australian cricketing great, Dean Jones.
Dean always said it like it is and has always been well respected by the whole cricketing world.
Not only was he a great batsman, but was regarded at his peak, the best fielder / catcher on a ground.
At 59 years of age and for a guy who looked after himself, being of the same age, this is getting too close to home.

Vale Dean Jones.

Update on Dean Jones passing.
Apparently, Dean had been out for a jog and returned to the hotel.

Footnote - Over the years, many a ‘fit over 50’s person’ has suffered a major heart attack and passed.

There have been a number of known athletes/ health conscious politicians etc that have passed away having gone for a jog etc.

l find it quite alarming that so many are dropping dead, in the name of keeping fit.
Very sad indeed.

Footnote 2 - Please don’t take this as myself having issues with jogging or running.
I’m all for exercising, however, it seems that our bodies may not be so kind in accepting as such.
Maybe we are putting too much strain on ourselves.
Anyway, a healthy mind is always preferred.

Best people stop exercising at fifty really

Best people stop exercising at fifty really

My good wife has worked at the local chemist for about 13 years now and the local doctor always says ...........
"If you are 50 or above, a brisk walk for some distance is more than enough."
In saying that, l certainly don't want to stop those who run on a regular basis and enjoy it as such.

I guess its all about knowing our limitations.

If you
@DawnButlerBrent
and people like you, stopped attacking the police on stop and search, maybe this killer would have been searched properly and the gun found, before he could kill. An officer has said they are reticent to search people because of racist accusations.
