Time and fate keep stealing my youth !! R.I.P. Bobby Ball From a time when Saturday night Television was worth watching, from a time when Talent actually counted and not how much money you could make the moguls and from a time when not everybody wanted to be a non-entity.

RIP Nobby. As a kid, my mum took me and my sister to an all-star football match at tee White City stadium - celebreties vs the 1966 World Cup team. This would've been late 70s I reckon, as I remember only Alan Ball was still playing professionally, but almost all of the others were there. "Celebs" included Keith Chegwin and Robin Askwith! No idea of the final score, it wasn't played seriously as these things are nowadays, but after the match there was a "meet and greet" for the fans to mingle with all the players. I must have been no more than ten, but remember meeting all these legends of the game, including Nobby, Bobby Moore, Jack Charlton et al. RIP all those that have left us
Every member of that squad achieved legendary status. RIP Nobby. Are there more members of that squad still alive than passed? ( I'll have to look it up. ) 54 years on, it would be remarkable if true.
Seven of the starting team have passed - Moore, Ball, Wilson, Banks, Peters, Jack Charlton and now Stiles
