Hi everyone, I've not been on here for almost a year (and that was just a brief intro). Have been browsing around to catch up and I'm pleased to see lots of old familiar usernames still around from the old 606 days - and quite a few new folk (to me anyway) to get to know.
Anyway, can somebody please enlighten me on this 'REP'. I can see that REP is a big thing, but what exactly is it and how does it work??
Apologies to those familiar with it and thinking what a fool Obi Wan must be to not be 'in the know'. But having been away so long I'm working my way around how this site works.

Basically Rep is a tool to give points to a particularly good post (or the reverse).
That is the theory.... but in practice we all abuse the system and give each other points for the sake of it thereby gaining more REP power.
To give rep... all you do is look at the bottom left of the post... click on the star and leave a comment and some REP.
I'll give you some starter rep so feel free to start with me
to find out your latest rep score jusr click on the control panel word at the top of your screen too.

If you go around giving people neutral or negative rep don't expect to get too much back.
Cheers AB - only given out 'positive rep' so far and apparently I've spent all my REP love for one day already. I'm guessing you start on 0 and build up rep power based on use? Or is it about how much you get back from others? Anyway, you should have some now.
Oh really? How is that? The only options I saw were 'approve' or 'disapprove' (or something like that - can't tell exactly what the options are now as I've used up all my rep) and sure I clicked on approve for everyone. How did I give neutral? Have I done something dim?
It's because he has no rep power so when he dishes rep out, it comes up as neutral.
Yep, you need to beg for others to give you it. For every 100 rep points, you move up 1 rep level.

Don't over think it. Just get repping everyone you can and enjoy the ride. We like virgins in here
