RIP David Wilkie, Olympic Gold medalist.

I really don’t like it that people are dying who I clearly remember in their prime and who weren’t really that much older than me.

70 is not old, we deserve a fit, active and healthy life to 75. At least.

RIP Rob.

Motor neurone disease is a dreadful illness.
I hope science finds a way to stop it in the years to come.
Along with that other terrible affliction Alzheimer's. The suffering and emotional torture these illnesses inflict on their victims and loved ones is beyond imagination.
Cures / prevention of these scourges would be some of the greatest gifts we could ever hope for.

RIP

All the brave service people of the British, American & Canadian forces, and any other service people of other Nationalities who fought with the Allies to begin the Liberation of Europe on D-Day, 6th June 1944. Those who gave their lives on this day 80 years ago, and in the battles that followed.

Also the brave members of the French Resistance and others who gave their lives for the cause of liberation on D-Day and during the ongoing Battle of Normandy.
Their sacrifice saved us all. They will always be honoured.

As a small mark of respect for their memory I'll not be posting anything of a political nature today.
Politics can wait I believe. This is a day to remember and honour our fallen heroes.

RIP Donald Sutherland.

Very distinctive Actor. Never won a best Actor Oscar so I hear, but a very memorable character nonetheless.

Being a sci-fi fan I always remember him in the 1978 remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers.
A classy example of the genre made at a time when everyone else was doing cheap Star Wars rip-off stuff.
And he appeared in the Kate Bush video for Cloudbusting.
