Nice stories today about how Sven waived a multi millionaire pound compensation payment when DoF at Notts County , knowing the club would have folded had he taken it. He walked away without a penny.
RIP James Earl Jones. What a distinctive voice! He played the bad guy in Conan the Barbarian I think, which was omitted from most of the lists of things he's been credited with today.
RIP Ed McLachlan, my favourite cartoonist. There's a selection of his catoons in this week's Private Eye.
RIP Timothy West, very distinctive actor. Had a good innings, 90 years of age. Married to Prunella Scales for 61 years.
RIP Timothy West. Not my cup of tea politically, but one of the outstanding actors of his generation. Husband of Pru Scales. He died today, aged 90.
Charlie Wright RIP. One of my all time favourite Charlton players. Great character and an excellent goalkeeper. He used to run a cafe in Greenwich. I have spoken to him on more than one occasion. He will be sorely missed. Also the keeper in my all time favourite Charlton team. The 1968 one.
Very sad news about Tony Slattery yesterday. A comic genius at his peak, who was bedevilled in later life by just about every affliction going. RIP.
Being a bit of a sci-fi geek I greatly enjoyed his movie adaptation of Frank Herbert's Dune. The extended version is still the most visually stunning adaptation I have seen, even 40 years on. He was a true one-off, who has made the World a culturally richer place.
