The Queen

It's also a complete myth that they bring in more revenue than they cost as a tourist attraction.
It is, because the tourist attraction still exists when they've gone. People will still want to look round Buck House etc.

Definitely pointless.

That said, the one who plays a young (and barely believable given the actual one was dog rough) Victoria in the series of the same name on ITV is fabulous so I definitely wid.

For what it's worth I like the royal family.
Whatever you think of them, the Queen has carried out her duties to the letter. God bless you Mam.
Mam is northern for Mum............Good day, Sir. Nice to have you with us.

Unless you meant Ma'am.

Exactly. We haven't executed anybody at the Tower of London for yonks but the tourists come flocking to that place. Same with Buck house and all the old stately homes around the UK, they are a gold mine for organisations like the National Trust.

I proposed it earlier in the thread, but if the Royal Family want to continue to ponce about in their flash garb and take trips abroad etc, then they should be privatised and run by a company like Merlin Entertainment who can market them as a tourist attraction. They should have no constitutional powers whatsoever and not one penny of UK taxpayers money should be spent on them.

Pay them the same rate as those that put on Morris dancing and those that act out Medieval scenes in mocked up villages
