I'm not going to go as far as to say that VAR can't survive that, because this is FIFA and everything.

But for that to happen in such a big game - albeit with no impact on the result - I do think there will be some sort of impact or consequence with regards to VAR in the future.

There won't because it was technically correct in law.

My understanding is that you can’t play advantage from a red card offence.

If VAR sed a red card they should therefore go back to that and this cancels out everything afterwards



It’s why I STILL maintain the first goal Leicester scored in the 0-9 shouldn’t have stood. If they give the Bertrand red card it can’t also be a goal.

Yes you can - if a goal is going to be scored. Besides a goal being scored takes away the red card offence in this case. However, as Haaland fouled Szobozslai and stopped him clearing the ball you have to go back and send him off.

Which to a degree is my point.

A technically correct decision which none of the players, coaches, supporters, commentators, TV viewers or anyone else wanted.

Maybe this will finally be the wake-up call that it's about more than just technically correct decisions.
