What happened with VAR? I assumed it was over so went and did something else.
Alisson was out of his goal having gone up for a set piece and didn't bother getting back. City got the ball back and Cherki played the ball through to Haaland who had an open goal. Szoboszlai pulled him back then Haaland pulled him back just before the ball trickled over the line for a goal. Goal disallowed, Szobozslai sent off.
 
When discussing it earlier I had only listened on 5live

Having now seen the highlights on MOTD, I am quite satisfied that the correct decision was made.


I am no VAR fan,I love that we don't have to have it each week.


But I do think a lot of commentators/pundits are looking for any stick to beat VAR with now and know the popular consensus is to criticise it, and so look to that viewpoint first every time. Sometimes VAR is right, even if they don't want it to be

Agreed. The actual incident made it a bit farcical rather than VAR. Had Haaland not fouled Szoboszlai then the goal would have stood. But Haaland pulled him back to stop him clearing the ball therefore the goal cannot be awarded.
