Blimey, who do they think they can get?
Just take a look on their forum. They hate the idea of Gerrard - partially because they can’t stand that he would inevitably leave for liverpool one day

More than one has suggested Mancini! But I think most have shot those people down

Several want a “statement hire”. Not sure who really fits that

my favourite was someone hoping that getting Fonseca would mean they would have a good chance of signing that Italy left back that tore up the euros - simply because fonseca was the one who signed him for Roma. That one made me laugh

Lampard with Terry as no 2 keeps getting mentioned <laugh>

It staggers me that Terry ever agreed to be a number 2 in the first place. Perhaps he hasn’t got quite the ego I always assumed

that or he knows his limitations

Lampard underperformed with an amazing squad. And his previous job was derby where he did will due to cronyism loans from Chelsea (would any other manager have got Mount there?)

So I am not sure why he is rated so highly

It will be interesting to see who ends up there,
Kasper Hjulmand is where I would put my £5.

Good comment about a move to Villa being a sideways move for Hasenhuttl

“Yeah, agree. To go from a small town club to a club based in one of only two metropolises in Britain who happen to be former European cup winners and founding member of the football league who have got a bigger waiting list for season tickets than Southampton can fit in their ground is exactly that, a sideways step <laugh>

TBF we were guilty of "we are considerably bigger than yow" jibes when we were in League One and I don't mind Villa fans thinking that they are bigger than us and if the shoe was on other foot we would be saying the same, it's a plain fact that they are a more famous club with a bigger fanbase and their ceiling for future success is higher than ours but not right now and they could easily get sucked into a relegation battle if they make the wrong managerial appointment.
One thing that can be said is that our club has overachieved since the 80s while Villa have probably underachieved in the same period (after their League title and European Cup win)

I think Ralph knows he has a stable position here, and is backed emotionally, if not financially (yet). He's also handsomely paid and beginning to make his mark on the team. I'd be massively disappointed on a number of levels if he jumped ship right now to go there. I understand it must be frustrating having the handbrakes on financially, but there's active work occurring to bring in a new buyer, so...

I dunno, it feels like the wrong move for him from my perspective. And I'd be peeved if he thought differently.
