I wouldn't normally wish for an Everton win, but this weekend I hope Everton give Liverpool a right royal spanking.

I feel ashamed that I was actually pleased Liverpool won the PL last season but following this Project Big Piss-take both Liverpool and Manchester United can go **** themselves.

They could have gone and fecked themselves before this debacle anyway :)

Agree, probably the only game I really want Warchest FC to win, but I'd love to see them put 4 or 5 past the Bindippers

As long as DCL, Richarlison and Rodriguez all get sent off. :D

In fact, far be it from me to want Everton to win the league, but there would be a certain amusement to seeing Liverpool's first league win in whatever it was overshadowed by Everton winning it the very next year...

Another weekend, another Pickford howler.

He's very lucky that Virgil is offside.

I suspect that would have been onside last season. By changing the "arm" as starting at the sleeve this season, rather than the armpit, it decreases the amount of handballs given - but increases the amount of a player's body which they can score from, and hence be given offside from. And I reckon it was exactly that which Virgil was offside.

I know Pickford was reprieved by the offside, but that was surely such a reckless challenge it should have warranted a red card anyway?

Yes, it would be interesting to see what our resident ref has to say about that! I’d have said “red” regardless .... or can you hack someone down and stay on if they’re offside? :emoticon-0104-surpr

This is already living up the hype. And probably with more goals to come, especially with two dodgy keepers.

Neither of our resident ref’s seem to want to answer it. Presumably you are allowed to blow an attacker’s head off with a sawn off 12-bore if they are offside?

My understanding has always been that the ball is dead at an offside, so you can't get sent off for foul play afterwards.

Violent conduct can still be a red yes, but not foul play. The ball needs to be in-play for foul play?

(I've liked never that tbh. If you take someone out, you're taking them out.)

Look, I didn't see the incident as I missed the first 10 mins so I can hardly comment on it.
Fair enough. Pickford scythed Virgil down with a potential leg-breaker which resulted in VVD going off, but Pickford escaped any sanction simply because Van Dijk was offside. Doesn’t seem right to me.

Edit: Thanks Brendy, I see the distinction but as you say it doesn’t really seem fair. My view has always been that if you injure a player enough for them to have to go off, you should also go.
