Can someone who watched the game explain West Ham's substitutions? Did't they take of 2 central midfielders for an attacker and young central defender?

Did the young defender (who the WH fans say is 3rd choice central defender ahead of Fonte) come on in central midfield?

How is he an anti-saints acquisition? Legitimately interested

Not going to down grade his achievements in Holland, as he did well, but he is a quick fix chegue book style manager. His blue print either fits or fails, but there's no room for adjustment. I would have been really concerned for our long term if he got the job. Lets watch Palace and see how it pans out.

With the new rules against fancy pitch designs, presumably because it's harder to see the game when watching on TV, surely only a matter of time before Newcastle are told they have to do something about that shadow

Do you mean Rice? If he's a CB then he must be bloody good. For the few minutes he was in he impressed. Looked like a young Matic.

were defending well but don't seem to be able to defend if they try to attack. not going to be a good season for them.

But given how long they held out for might shed a slightly new light on our result last week. They have to try and attack at home. Not so much when away. I would think we will not be the only ones held at home to them - but could be wrong of course

Home defeat for Bournemouth. I know it is early days but I thought many were saying how well they had done in the transfer window with begovic, ake and Defoe...

I'll be very interested to see how Swansea invest the Siggy money. I've got a feeling they'll end up signing three or four bang average (or worse) players - and if they do that, it could be Championship for them next season.

(On the other hand, sign a couple of really decent players, and there's enough poor teams in this league to keep Swansea up)
