Steve Bruce watching this with a wry smile. It's a whole lot harder being Newcastle manager when your back triangle is Dubravka-Lascelles-Schar, as Bruce knows too well. (Lascelles in particular. He's an awful PL defender.)
 
As much as the Championship is mad and unpredictable, have to say the Prem is giving it a run for its money these days. It's f*cking chaotic at the moment. Teams thrashing each other left and right.

I bet if Spurs and Newcastle played tomorrow, it would be 4-0 to Newcastle.

Nah. Newcastle are an injury riddled mess right now.

Problem is that they're competing on multiple fronts, without much ability to rotate. Five matches in the last sixteen days...see if you can note some similarities in the outfield lineup chosen for those five matches:

Against Chelsea, Nov 26: Livramento, Schar, Lascelles, Trippier, Joelinton, Bruno, Miley, Gordon, Isak, Almiron.
Against PSG, Nov 29: Livramento, Schar, Lascelles, Trippier, Joelinton, Bruno, Miley, Gordon, Isak, Almiron.
Against Man U, Dec 2: Livramento, Schar, Lascelles, Trippier, Joelinton, Bruno, Miley, Gordon, Isak, Almiron.
Against Everton, Dec 7: Livramento, Schar, Lascelles, Trippier, Joelinton, Bruno, Miley, Gordon, Isak, Almiron.
Against Spurs, Dec 10: Livramento, Schar, Lascelles, Trippier, Joelinton, Bruno, Miley, Gordon, Isak, Almiron.

Good point. Weird then that in the Man Utd game, they only made two subs; one in the 86th minute, and one in the 97th.

Hope Tino doesn't get injured again.

Edit: Likewise the Everton game. Only two subs, both in the 90th minute. And no subs at all vs PSG.
 
I genuinely felt sorry for Trippier today. Having been at fault for the first two goals against Everton and being the player who looked across the back line and didn’t step up with his CBs, making him complicit in the third, his team conceded the first two today, from his side of the pitch. He had no cover in front of him and must be ready for a break.
Tough times for Newcastle because as some of their players start returning, later this month, they run the risk of getting more players injured through over use.
