For all the stick Lawro gets he actually had us in the correct position in the league before the Leeds game.

He did have Leeds second in his table though

He just predicted us to get points in the wrong games! Mind you, I can't really blame him for predicting defeats against City and United.

That halfwit, Crooks, is busy selling Declan Rice to a 'big club' this week in his team of the week. Nothing to concern us there.

Meanwhile, Danny Murphy is postulating that Newcastle need to stay up.

Crooks by name...

I think Newcastle should be okay quite comfortably now, they've got enough in that squad and will spend in January too.

For me, Norwich are already gone, Watford I'm 90% on too. Then one of Leeds/Burnley/Wolves/us for the final spot.

Either one of Brighton or Brentford will have a bad 2nd half of the season. There’s always one. Was us last season of course. Could be Brighton seeing as they’ve had a soft run of fixtures so far, haven’t won in three games, goals are drying up, and the whole Bissouma thing going on.

I think I agree. Brighton and Brentford are a third of a way to safety already. And whilst I still have some doubts over Palace, they are better this year than in previous years (though I'm not yet totally discounting them).

It goes back to my post yesterday about the Burnley match up next. This is a real chance to put them deep into trouble. They can't keep on staying up each year; eventually their lack of quality will catch up with them. If we can beat them, it wouldn't be the biggest surprise in the world if there's a bottom four of Norwich, Watford, Burnley and Newcastle who are cut adrift from the other 16 come Xmas. And with Newcastle then using January to pull clear themselves.

On the one hand, Arsenal (again) haven't been great. On the other hand, the can justifiably say that McCarthur should have been sent off whilst the score was still 1-0.

Even if they go down they’ll just come straight back, with the money they are suggesting they are going to spend it’s just a matter of time before they are competing for European places and maybe CL as well
This is complete bullshit talking about Newcastle competing for European places. The best players will still go to United, City, Liverpool, Chelsea and the top continental sides long before they consider "The Toon." Over time they might reach the Spurs level.
