How was his 3rd not offside? Didn’t even look like VAR reviewed it and it seemed a mile off to me! (Mind you I’m watching a very small set with the sound off up on the wall of the pub, so I couldn’t see that well)

I haven't seen it, so can't directly comment. But speaking about VAR and offsides in general this season:

1. The lines are thicker now, which means more goals will stand. If the lines touch each other (which has a greater chance of happening when they're thicker), it is onside.

2. The VAR review will no longer be shown onscreen. Only the outcome will be confirmed. (Which is how the rest of the world already use VAR. We were the country who showed the line drawing etc).

Thanks, StB - that helps a bit, though I’d love to see it again (no doubt on match of the day when this game will be shown first I reckon) as it looked miles off to me …… though I do need glasses …. :emoticon-0102-bigsm:emoticon-0102-bigsm

Leeds look awful, thankfully
How come thankfully? Unless they have a complete drop off they seem like they should be well clear of us with the standard of player they have

Although I can’t be the only one hoping they have an implosion this year after the sickening love-in they got last year. Honestly - you would have thought they were West Ham the way the media fawned over them

Nice bit of Leeds bias on the BBC live text - waxing lyrical about the Leeds fans still being in the ground showing strong support

I expect it is because covid protocols plus usual policing of this fixture means they haven’t been allowed to leave ...

Intrigued by some of the other sides put out

Chelsea are lining up ridiculously defensive given all their options. Taking a leaf out of Gareth Southgate’s book with 5 at the back, two defensive midfielders and Mount as one of the three attacking players

Against Palace

Someone on BBC live text has made a comment about Villa maybe missing John Terry as assistant

I am sure the same was said here or on SW when people were questioning Villa (I think more likely over JWP than Ings). It seemed to be clutching as straws but you never know
