As per our usual policy of renewing thread that go over the 1000 posts, when they seem to have an endless life, here's the brand new replacement for the PL thread.

Cheers

This was the last comment:

Not that much different to Rooney.

Rooney was 67 games 40 starts
Barclay is 46 games 28 starts
Shaw is 57 games 52 starts

I was more saying is he as good as the hype or is he another Wilshere 'the future of England?'

Added Shaw as a comparison for good measure considering most accept he would be first team for most of the teams interested in him.

Wow, I totally missed that they only had four wins.

One of them at Old Trafford, naturally.

Stupidest sacking I've ever seen the West Brom one. Well, that I can think of at the moment anyhow.

It was absolute madness. I do actually feel sorry for Mel. This job won't do his managerial record any good, and he has been thrown in at the deep end, without his own coaching staff, in mid season. It is very difficult for him.

Fulham and Brom made crazy decisions.

Death by a thousand draws. If they do stay up now it'll be more luck than judgement. To be fair after all the hype last year, it was only 49 points, which we should beat this season. And obviously there is the Lukaku factor. Four winnable games next up then a tough finish.

West Brom do have some awkward games coming up against teams around them.
If they lose a couple of them - one of them being against us hopefully - then I think they will be down.
I certainly don't think 40 points minimum is the target this year for safety. I think 35 could be enough

West Bromwich Albion have released the following statement about Nicolas Anelka:

FURTHER to the statement issued earlier this evening, the Club notes Nicolas Anelka is unwilling to agree to the conditions set by it which may have enabled his suspension to be lifted and for him to resume training.

These conditions were, firstly, that the Club required Nicolas Anelka to apologise to it, its supporters, sponsors and the wider community for the impact and consequences of his gesture made on December 28 and secondly, that he accept a substantial fine.

Nicolas Anelka’s purported termination of his Premier League contract this evening via Social Media was invalid as this was not conducted under the correct legal process as required by his contract.

The Club considers the conduct of Nicolas Anelka on December 28, coupled with his purported termination on Social Media this evening, to be gross misconduct.

As a result the Club has tonight written to Nicolas Anelka giving him 14 days’ notice of termination as required under his contract.

So Anelka won't get compo. The man is a nightmare...his own personality is his major flaw. He has been trouble for every club he has joined...have no idea why teams keep taking risks. Would hate to be his agent...even for the money. I have always said that he should have stayed a few more years at Arsenal. I don't necessarily think he meant anything racist by his gesture, but perhaps he should choose his friends more carefully. A man like Anelka was never going to apologise.

Have just remembered that at one point he had a relative as an agent...so no checks and balances there.

Didn't this relative/agent suddenly pass away last year?
Maybe it's time he retired now, for me it seems his heart isn't in it anymore.
