I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place on this issue. The vast majority of people coming over on boats are young blokes (I think Goldy may have pointed this out). I would have a much more sympathetic view if they were children or women. I also stated, which in my opinion was just common sense, when we left the EU, we would just replace the white immigrants with the non white immigrants. That has happened tenfold. In life, I generally like to look at prevention before I do the cure. What causes this type of immigration/asylum, is it mainly wars? Of which we usually play some part either directly or indirectly? Or is it because we have such lovely weather here and fish & chips?

I agree about the women and children, Bob. It's women and children that have come from Ukraine, although legally of course, and most people are sympathetic.
Illegal immigrants are very often economic migrants. They believe they will have a better life in the UK. Some will work hard, some may be sucked into organised crime. Albanians and Vietnamese criminals go for the lucrative drugs trade here.
Yvette Cooper has a vital job to do. Fail, and it will boost Farage and Reform. Reform came second in nearly 100 constituencies. If Labour don't act on immigration, Reform will come first in many of them at the next GE. That's what's happening in Europe

Think I’m pretty meh on ID either way. Don’t really see what it would achieve. Would it be compulsory whenever leaving the house? I rarely carry a wallet now. I guess it could be carried on a phone rather than a physical card.

Yes, it would be on a phone. We'd get a handle on who is in the country.

Fortunately, or unfortunately for Reform, they would never get my vote due to immigration not being high enough up on my list of priorities.
