I was on the picket line at Grunwick ( quite a long way from the action, there were a lot of people there) on 22 June 1977, the day of the mass picket. Exciting stuff for a 16 year old.

If they lose the Shropshire seat it will be explicitly due to corruption and Johnson’s attempts to put the fix in for his crony. Then he would be under huge pressure to go, but he is so arrogant that there might be some kind of coup rather than a resignation. It’s funny how people think the sun shines out of Sunak’s arse. He only got that job because Javid walked out of it, he’s wealth comes from his wife and his tailor is taking the piss. He’s had a great time as chancellor dishing out the dosh to all comers (rightly). Completely untested on anything else. Mind you, I can’t even remember who the Shadow Chancellor is.

As you mentioned in an earlier post, Sunak is closely linked to Allegra Stratton, so could be tainted by that. I think Jeremy Hunt might win a leadership contest.

Can’t imagine him going down well with the members who are the only ones who matter. Bit remainery isn’t he?

.......and utterly bonkers, so perfect for the modern Tory party.
I’ve just been reading the ‘highlights’ of her address to the Chatham House foreign policy think tank. She’s unhinged. All the old populist/nationalist **** …’our adversaries’, the ‘fashionable circles undermining us’, ‘hostile forces’, ‘malign ideologies’……a ****ing menu of people to blame for everything while ‘Britain is the greatest country on Earth’ (as if it was a competition, with perhaps a league table) where ‘everybody has the opportunity to succeed’. But not, perhaps, an equal opportunity eh Liz? Especially as you continue to ignore the women and equalities agenda which you remain responsible for.

But we can rest easy, she promises that, under her, British foreign policy will be ‘unashamedly commercial’ and despite banging on about ‘freedom and democracy’ a dozen times, she says we will do business with any country which is not ‘actively trying to undermine us’. Phew, so we can still sell arms to the Saudis and buy everything from the Chinese.

She’s definitely running for leader and would beat Sunak with the faithful with ease.

Its about time they played the Tories at their own game. All Starmer needs to do now is come up with some meaningless slogans, a boat load of false promises, a manifesto worth **** and a pack of lies. That should turn even a Tory to vote for him.
He has already and he broke lockdown rules for a party.

I wouldn't be surprised if Liz Truss eventually replaces Boris, she's more in line with the Tory diehards...

"Eventually" is the optimum word, because I still don't see Boris going anywhere, though backbenchers may insist on the installation of a well organised enforcer as their price for continued support.

As for Truss, she has the charisma of...of...Ann Widdecombe. Which is why I'd favour Sunak. Imagine, a Hindu prime minister from the racist, sexist Tories, while Labour is at least a century away from their first female leader.

But he has just had a baby girl.

We ( the British public) all love babies.
It’s sad that you need to mock the birth of a women’s child Beth?
Especially when the poor girl previously suffered a miscarriage.
People need to distinguish between politics and human beings.

She’s a **** and her current husband is a ****. I feel sorry for the child though I doubt he/she will have too much to worry about in life.
