The petrol stuff, agreed. The overall HGV issues and the gas prices and retailer stuff were both predictable and had in fact been predicted, but apparently there was no thinking done in Whitehall before the **** hit the fan.
An uncle of my wife is in the haulage business in scotland. Sits on a board of haulage and transport. They warned of a driver shortage years and years ago.

This is capitalism folks. If we want the drivers to be paid a fair wage, the demand for drivers need to go up ala what we are seeing now. If it means i need to eat leaves as no meat is being delivered or start buying locally at a higher price than that has to happen.

You can't have food aplenty and good wages because thats not how capitalism works unfortunately.

on the other hand, for all the climate activists out there, at least you can have your unlimited fuel from electricity (until the plants turn off). no petrol station panic for you guys
 
We've flown fruit-pickers in from as far afield as Barbados, Nepal, Kenya and Philippines. Anything to keep the Europeans out.
