An uncle of my wife is in the haulage business in scotland. Sits on a board of haulage and transport. They warned of a driver shortage years and years ago.
This is capitalism folks. If we want the drivers to be paid a fair wage, the demand for drivers need to go up ala what we are seeing now. If it means i need to eat leaves as no meat is being delivered or start buying locally at a higher price than that has to happen. You can't have food aplenty and good wages because thats not how capitalism works unfortunately.
on the other hand, for all the climate activists out there, at least you can have your unlimited fuel from electricity (until the plants turn off). no petrol station panic for you guys
We've flown fruit-pickers in from as far afield as Barbados, Nepal, Kenya and Philippines. Anything to keep the Europeans out. Global Britain.
There are cars using up petrol by driving round and round to garage petrol pump queues even though there's no shortage of petrol. Muttonheads
Fear not, Kier Starmer is sending out his 12000 word essay to every voter so they have something to put on their fire at night
I’m all for avoiding exploitation of workers, though I’m not sure drivers were/are being particularly exploited. This was all avoidable but for the government’s chosen ideology.
