If you grossly disrespect in public someone of another race, I can see it might lead to violence

But blasphemy can creep behind closed doors, into the home, and be interpreted by religious bigots and thought police. It's several steps backwards, that's just my view. Have a look at what's happening in Pakistan, where defiling a book leads to a death sentence. Those practices are beginning to come to Europe
I understand what you're saying Goldie - but there is a dividing line, and I think the Danish authorities know where that is. The problem here is not the burning, but the combination of that with the publication of it. If I clear out my bookcase of all my old books and then burn some which I don't need, then there may be one of them of a religious nature - if someone comes into my garden and sees that one of these books is eg. `The book of Mormon' and is offended, then that is his problem and not mine. But videoing the act and sending it to a facebook group called 'Yes to freedom - no to Islam' is one giant step further, and that is the problem.

I see that there are rumours abound that May may give Scotland the chance of another Referendum when the divorce from the EU is finalized.Considering the cost of funding Scotland by the English taxpayers I think that would be a huge benefit for a 3 country UJ. No?

Most Leave voters I know, also want rid of Scotland - not sure if that's true of the people on here though. I'd prefer them not to leave, it will cost a lot of money for us as well as them, but if they want to go let them.

We'll throw Wales in for free if they do.

<laugh> Nice one mate.

On a serious note, I listened to some politician who said basically Scotland would be f222ed without our money and the EU wouldn't let them in any way because of Spain and Catalonia. He went on to say that they would bottle it again.
For me I would like to keep the union but if they want out then bye bye.

stop promising us(wales) our freedom>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>we all know your banking system couldn't work without its engineered lower classes

just seen a story in North West Spain where 120 Romanians who booked a restaurant done a mass runner failing to pay their bill. Romania certainly hit the jackpot with their EU membership. They solved their social and employment problems in one hit

Have we reached the stage where every crime committed by a Rumanian gets made public, whereas for others it is different ? And we do it so often, and for so long, that, in the end, everybody thinks Rumanian or Pole = criminal. There is no evidence to suggest that East Europeans in Britain are any more 'criminal' than any other group of people. The same applies in the rest of Europe. People run out of restaurants without paying in many places - is their nationality mentioned ? So why now ? if we are picking out ethnic groups for 'special attention', in this way, then we are on a very slippery slope.

I think if 120 Germans did a runner it would be in the news too.

Good and bad in all races.

I dont think Romanian is a race Ellers, but they have a different mindset. Germany has a problem as well as West Germans have low regard for the former East Germans. All country's have their favorite to beat up on, Mexicans here.

I would also add that similar to your quote about 'every crime committed' You could mirror that with the BBC/Sky reporting of Brixit and Trump. Those news outlets are always quick to complain about the negative things but keep quiet about positive things. Good examples have been the economy. Always headlines when it looked bad (so blame Brexit), then when it's doing well it's a small news item. They also kept quiet about the amount of Americans that think Trumpton is going to do well as a president. I didn't even know about that poll until I watched a US channel.

first time I've heard of 120 doing it, that takes some organising. We've been on a slippery slope since we joined the EU

Where is there a reliable source for this story in the net ? I've searched under different headings but not found anything yet. One problem is that many people use the expressions Rumanian and Romany almost interchangeably - if a crime were committed by English Gypsies would the media refer to them as 'English' or 'Gypsies' ? Probably the latter - but if they come from Rumania this is not the case - then they are 'Rumanian'.
