There's always someone who decides that one round should be doubles - no doubt that'll be the UK round in this analogy....
That refrain is becoming tiresome, Col, which I imagine is your intention. Telling 'em to **** off would cost 'them' a lot (which I'm sure would please you), but it would cost us a hell of a lot more. You seem to be content that this country would be a lot poorer for many years to satisfy your yearning for the days of Empire, but most Leave voters have said that they didn't vote to be poorer. That's what they - and the rest of us - are going to get, though.
The EU has to recognise that our government is pretty incapable of doing anything and accept responsibility for making progress. They won’t do this because we are the ones leaving against their wishes and it’s too complicated to get 27 countries to agree. Highly likely we will drift into nothing through inertia. In which case we might as well tell them to **** off now and get it over and done with, so I can work out how many more years I have to work to have a briefer and less comfortable retirement. No winners.
"yearning for the days of empire".....................excellent! No one knows what the economy will look like in a few years' time. These so called experts get so many "predictions" wrong that they couldn't predict next week's weather let alone what World events could happen to have an effect on everything. All this doom and gloom is just a smoke screen. Just tell 'em to **** off!
They are caving in already. As was mentioned long ago, the German Car companies will put pressure on Merkel. She pulls the strings. As for people talking down our country, they are far from understanding exactly what we offer. Europe will be 2222ed without us that's why they are making it so hard for us to leave. Sadly this government has 'pussy footed' about and not shown a strong enough hand. Hopefully they will ditch May and bring in a strong Bexit PM.
Thanks for the appreciation, Col. 'All this doom and gloom is just a smoke screen' Is there anybody left (apart from your good self, perhaps) who thinks that we won't be economically worse off after Brexit?
Where did I say that? They are just as stubborn, stupid and political as we are. But we (or our government) are less competent. In my opinion. Our government has its hands on 54 reports on the potential impact of Brexit (presumably different scenarios) by sector. It is refusing to publish them, or say why it’s refusing to publish them. I wonder why? Liam Fox enjoys using his (valid) title President of the Board of Trade. The Board of Trade has one member - him. Hasn’t got around to appointing any other Privy Councillors to it yet, 15 months in.
I don't do Twitter, but apparently the Brexit-fanatic-and-definitely-not-bonkers John Redwood tweeted this yesterday..... The Chancellor must get the Treasury to have more realistic, optimistic forecasts & to find the money for a successful economy post Brexit. Translation: Stop sabotaging Brexit by telling the truth.
As I'm sure I said before the Government should tell the hard line Brexiteers to **** off, and cancel the Article 50. The Pound and the rest of the Economy would improve immediately, and time and resources used on Brexit could be used for something useful.
I don't know if the UK Will be better or worse off after brexit Nor does anyone else Apparently we are all experts
I think it's only the pro-leavers that think it can go either way. I know it's going down the kharzi but you can't get people a vote and then say, nah this is a ****ing stupid idea and do the opposite.
Interesting interview here: https://unearthed.greenpeace.org/2017/09/25/keir-starmer-labour-brexit-donald-trump/ I like the phrase "Fantasy Brexiteers". Sums a lot of people up. Clearly they're not stupid, so you have to question why they want it and why they're trying to persuade people to give them the sort of Brexit they want.
Is that picture taken in Bulgaria because it's not the UK. Still, let's not get in the way of the facts
