Kind of odd that in our intriguing political system Johnson hasn’t actually resigned as PM, simply stood down as leader of the Tories. He needs to ask the Queen for his P45.

Labour secure charisma and policy free leadership duo as they are ‘cleared’ of breaking COVID rules.

**** me, just heard Starmer sounding so self-righteous he needs a pulpit. We've got Mother Theresa to deal with for the next two years.

He put his career on the line for a ridiculous right wing press stitch-up and he’s been vindicated at the same time as his opponent goes through an incredibly undignified, drawn out resignation. Pretty good time to come across as morally superior, which he always has been.

This, did anyone really believe there was anything in it? Honestly? It was clearly a desperate attempt to deflect from Johnson and co breaking their own rules numerous times.

Interesting that the Guardian asked, at a near deserted press conference, whether Starmer thought Labour needed more policies than Not-Being-Boris-Johnson. No clear answer but more evangelical stuff

That’s apparently enough for some people.

Despite the usual hatchet job from the media, Starmer is a normal bloke who has done incredibly well for himself from a humble background and represents a centre-left Labour well IMO. Not being Boris Johnson is a major bonus.

I don’t know him as well as you do. I fell into the trap of finding him intensely irritating.
