I suspect that, within 10 years, there will be an independent Scotland, Wales and England. Plus a united Ireland.
Seems the way things are heading.

I like the Union, but I'm not fundamentally against any of the above.
I'm not so sure Col. That brilliant LBC phone in recently about a united Ireland was interesting. Many in the South don't want a united Ireland and it would cause big economic problems. Like you I thought a united Ireland was a big possibility but now I think different.
On Scotland... not all SNationalistP voters want independence. Kranky doesn't speak for a huge majority of the Scottish. She will beat the drum but there is no skin on it.

So, many of the traditional Labour voters of the north of England were deluded into thinking that the EU was the cause of their woes, and punished Labour for telling them the truth. As a result they turned to the very party responsible for their austerity for the last 9 years. Unfortunately our General Election wasn't very general - the Tories managed to turn it into a Brexit only election, helped by the media, where fake news was the order of the day and such questions as possible election bribery and prevention of the publication of reports were 'one day news' and nothing else. Labour's attempts to turn this fiasco into a general election - involving a wider range of election themes fell on deaf ears. The Labour voters of the north ended up voting for bankers and speculators, against nurses, the homeless and those going to food banks - and democracy lost. Democracy lost again because, once more, a party will be able to lord it with a majority which 57% of the electorate voted against.
I gave up after the first line. <doh> comments like this are the reason Brexit happened and Labour got the biggest kicking in my lifetime. If you patronise people they will remember.

I do wonder: IF the Tories decide that the Scots can have a second referendum, and the Scottish people decide that is what they want, will they still want funding from central UK government or can they get enough money from taxes and the oil to be self sufficient.
I am based in the opposite side of the country so have no idea of just how much oil etc is still available to be drilled. Plus fishing waters - I assume that the Scots will want their own. I do believe (and stand to be corrected) that on the last referendum the majority of Scots voted to stay and whilst Sturgeon wants this to be re-run, what happens if she loses again? Will she go for the best of 5 instead of best of 3.
One thing I am glad of is no more Corbyn. There have been labour leaders that I would have voted for previously; the late John Smith being one - however anyone that sides against the UK army that defends this country would never get my vote.

Deluded Jezza won't take any responsibility for the loss. <doh> He blames the press.
He should understand that he was unelectable and people just didn't want him.
Idiot.

Is this the same press that posted a "document he was holding allegedly informing of the NHS's impending sale?"....the blanked out Russian version.

The thing about this election as it has changed the face of party allegence and constituencies. Just listening to so many life long Labour voters saying they didn't want Corbyn and Tories were a better option. Cant argue with them as they have been let down.
The London elite are not real Labour.

Let me summarise for those that can’t be arsed to read this sour grapes laden piece of rubbish: you lost.

E="Sooperhoop, post: 13410734, member: 1001127"]More rubbish. There have been a number of activists on radio this morning all saying the same thing, Labour lost in their heartlands because they treated 'their' voters with contempt. One said his local party selected their preferred candidate but the PLP rejected him and imposed their own Momentum approved candidate who wasn't from that area, didn't know the region and had views very different from local members. The result is many locals refused to canvass and those that did soon found out they were done for with Corbyn being cited the problem.

Labour always used to have a great array of local MPs who were familiar with their areas, now it seems Momentum have their own agenda and anyone with a free mind will not be tolerated. They have totally alienated their core vote and got what they deserved.

All the Luvvies bleating on twitter are what Labour aspires to these days, they really have become detached from reality...[/QUOTE]

Alan Johnson tore into the Momentum leader, laid the blame squarely on the infiltration of the extreme left into the party as the reason they got a hiding

Does that mean we can close this thread and all get back to being friends again and supporting our club?

The election result really has shifted a lot of sh1t (from my perspective) from Parliament. Particularly those pain in the arse recalcitrant Tories. Clean broom, fresh start, get Brexit delivered in its entirety. There'll be hurdles on the way, but at last we can move forward. I don't want to see another EU flag outside Parliament once the Withdrawal Bill has gone through

Its over, or is it ?
The question to be answered now is not a simple one but must I suppose be asked, with all the different political affiliations on this thread, with all the different against and for opinions, the question is .............
Did the Tories win the election, or did the Labour Party lose it ?
It may look a stupid question, but I would like to hear opinions from both sides.

Agree those EU flags are pathetic... it's not even a country flag. <doh> The 'peoples vote' was last night and the people choice overwhelmingly to get Brexit done. The fanatics got what they deserved last night.... nothing.
It will be the end of the 2nd referendum and Brexit will get done quickly.
Interesting listen to some commentators about Boris saying he is more centre (one nation) than ERG. They were saying he could actually bring the country together more than people give him credit for. He is liked by World leaders and the public in general. They went on to say he has big changing plans for the country that will make us stronger and respected again.
