All parties have neglected the NHS. It's the most vital service we have although I dont have fond memories of it. It has always been under funded and under staffed since I can remember. To blame a particular party for this is wrong. The NHS should be absent from politics and policies .

A very fair comment, Bob. Have you been hacked? :)

You can’t pretend a FPTP election is any sort of referendum when the system is so skewed against the smaller parties and we all have to take so much more into account than Brexit. It’s a complete cop out from De Pfeffel and the brainwashed masses.

A PR election would be something. Not happening though in any of our lifetimes.

There’s always support for PR amongst the sub-20% support parties, isn’t there? A few in Labour occasionally moan about, but only when they’re in opposition. Weird, innit?

It's a shame that a GE would be based on brexit and brexit alone. How can anyone of us believe a single thing that is promised from anyone. This is a very corrupt political country, one that I find myself feeling very ashamed of. It's all about money, greed and power. Winning and losing like a bloody game of football. This country is broken, it will always be broken in my opinion. It would be refreshing to base our votes on truths and facts but we are just the simple thick twats who believe everything we are told. Quite a sad state of affairs

I happen to agree with most of that. I’ve said on this very thread some time back that the Tories aren’t fit for purpose anymore. The Nambies will implode if they get anywhere near power, as they always do, as they’re full of a vast spectrum of quacks. Labour is a vehicle for social engineering and no longer about blue collar workers - many of their MPs haven’t been anywhere near these sorts of trades and have been career politicians since their student union activist days.

Yes, it’s all about power for power’s sake. It’s not about the privilege of public service. Mark Twain was right.

I'm thinking of setting up a new political party.
B.O.B
Bastards of Britain
I will promise the earth, deliver on nothing and act like a complete bastard, representing all other bastards in the country. Who will vote for me?!

Tom Tugendhat (Tory) and Lisa Nandy (Labour) on Politics Live. Two fine examples of very sensible, very reasonable politicians, both able to listen to and understand opposing arguments and show willingness to compromise. The government should take note.

I agree this country has many problems Bob but surely it’s nowhere near the scale of countries like Spain, where peaceful demonstrators are attacked daily by what is becoming a fascist police force or where politicians are being jailed for years, for organising a referendum.

The difference is Staines imo that the UK as a population is not only divided but our nation is in severe crisis. It’s on most of our minds daily in fact driven by our media

Looking across at other countries is merely a rest bite from our own dilemmas all of which are boiling under the surface. How it’s reported to us is the key factor here as I can guarantee you that 90% of Spain don’t give a ****e about their news or don’t even know about it . Take it from me as I watch and experience first hand the differences in media styles from the actual locations
So to brand Spain as in trouble etc is nowhere near the truth

The news and impressions we are fed are simply sensationalised in our media styles

I haven’t been seeing any police brutality reported on UK media, just stuff from the Spanish ‘social media’ that shows the acts of a Spanish police force that are happy to beat, run over and abuse its own people without any fear of retaliation it seems. And if Catalan politicians are NOT being jailed (or rightly jailed) then please forgive me, I obviously got that one wrong. You might have more information than me.

...As should the Opposition, presumably?
