There’s always support for PR amongst the sub-20% support parties, isn’t there? A few in Labour occasionally moan about, but only when they’re in opposition. Weird, innit?
I happen to agree with most of that. I’ve said on this very thread some time back that the Tories aren’t fit for purpose anymore. The Nambies will implode if they get anywhere near power, as they always do, as they’re full of a vast spectrum of quacks. Labour is a vehicle for social engineering and no longer about blue collar workers - many of their MPs haven’t been anywhere near these sorts of trades and have been career politicians since their student union activist days. Yes, it’s all about power for power’s sake. It’s not about the privilege of public service. Mark Twain was right.
I’m not sure it would be a good thing to let a load of Brexit Party MPs in tbh. We had an AV referendum once which I can’t even remember having.
I'm thinking of setting up a new political party. B.O.B Bastards of Britain I will promise the earth, deliver on nothing and act like a complete bastard, representing all other bastards in the country. Who will vote for me?!
Tom Tugendhat (Tory) and Lisa Nandy (Labour) on Politics Live. Two fine examples of very sensible, very reasonable politicians, both able to listen to and understand opposing arguments and show willingness to compromise. The government should take note.
I agree this country has many problems Bob but surely it’s nowhere near the scale of countries like Spain, where peaceful demonstrators are attacked daily by what is becoming a fascist police force or where politicians are being jailed for years, for organising a referendum.
The difference is Staines imo that the UK as a population is not only divided but our nation is in severe crisis. It’s on most of our minds daily in fact driven by our media Looking across at other countries is merely a rest bite from our own dilemmas all of which are boiling under the surface. How it’s reported to us is the key factor here as I can guarantee you that 90% of Spain don’t give a ****e about their news or don’t even know about it . Take it from me as I watch and experience first hand the differences in media styles from the actual locations So to brand Spain as in trouble etc is nowhere near the truth The news and impressions we are fed are simply sensationalised in our media styles
I haven’t been seeing any police brutality reported on UK media, just stuff from the Spanish ‘social media’ that shows the acts of a Spanish police force that are happy to beat, run over and abuse its own people without any fear of retaliation it seems. And if Catalan politicians are NOT being jailed (or rightly jailed) then please forgive me, I obviously got that one wrong. You might have more information than me.
