Sky has surpassed itself this morning. We hear the sad news of Honda and the job losses. But rather than discuss Honda/Jobs/Future of workforce. They interview a 'remoaner' who blames Brexit.
The silly ginger girl on Sky asked "I know what the company has said but there must be some link to Brexit"?
Even after the statement from the company:
Honda said the move was due to global changes in the car industry and the need to launch electric vehicles, and it had nothing to do with Brexit.
and the local MP and spokesperson saying it had nothing to do with Brexit.
The more I hear crap like this, the more I know that it's all 'project fear'.
What's sad is that none of them are interested in the workers. They just want some Brexit news. Muppets

The Honda spokesman today could not have been clearer. Brexit was not a factor. The factors were:
1. Move from diesel
2. Move to electric as you say, Ellers
3. The fact that for Honda, the largest markets by a very large margin, are Japan, China and US
4. The recently signed EU/Japan Trade Deal that means that Honda can manufacture in Japan and export into the EU on zero tariffs.
There are seismic changes in the car industry taking place worldwide (just ask recession-threatened Germany). None of these have anything to do with Brexit. Notwithstanding this, total assholes like Adonis and Campbell keep insisting a "People's Vote" will solve all problems. They are sad, sad figures, and they are the only people that can't see it.
No, they no longer need to be within the EU to sell without tariffs. So they've gone back to manufacturing in Japan, which is closer to their major markets.
No, the point is that they will no longer be able to sell to the EU without tariffs from the UK. We won't be in the EU, remember?
So am I right in thinking that because of this new EU/Japan deal then there is no need to have a factory here (on anywhere in Europe) if Honda factories have capacity back in Japan.
Still doesnt involve Brexit though surely......just makes sense to Honda financially to move everything back to Japan.
Because, if they are going to move, it makes more sense to move production to Japan. They point is, would they have moved if we weren't leaving the EU? You're being deliberately obtuse, Goldie.

However, just one of the parameters. It may or may not have been the tipping point in the TCO, we'll likely never know.
Honda will probably have had some serious incentives to bring this production back to Japan.
It is very clear in a substantial amount of industries that the new black is to insource the outsourcing and offshoring that took place in the last 30 years.
Honda made it clear in their statement this morning that the reason for their move from the UK was the major change from diesel to electric cars (which is happening throughout the worldwide car industry) and the huge importance of the Pacific market to them. The only way you could question this statement, Strolls, would be if there had been no Japan/ EU free trade deal and Honda had moved from the UK to Continental Europe.
