I think it's a bit sad that anyone who flies a flag these days is lumped in with the racist dickheads. Bloke in my street has flown a flag (Union Flag) in his back garden on a proper flag pole since he moved in about a decade ago. I always thought it a bit odd but he told me he was ex-army and proud to be British which is fair enough. He's taken the Union Flag down recently and replaced it with a regimental flag, said he doesn't want to be mixed up with the recent flag shagging.Naieve I may be. But I know categorically there is no racist intent in some of the flag flying. Bundling everyone together seems to be one of the modern day approaches were thought and care is ignored in favour of political point scoring.
I do agree about St George though. I am proud to be part of one of the most multi-cultural countries and pleased to be able to have him as representing our history.
