I totally agree with you, and i dont like saying this but if this is the case, the many thousands that took the time and money to follow the swans to wembley and i am talking about the ordinary Jack in the street who are new to the swans, a new generation of fans if you like are not going to be able to watch the team this year and may be lost, and if we go down next may all these corporates will f*ck off back to their golf clubs on a saturday, The board will then be back to trying to encourage our recently new found fans to join the swans family where everyone is welcome

Based on what you say above here cometh the pimms and prawn sandwich brigade.For a year at least
 
:emoticon-0150-handsAs stated above. We are now a premier league team, so the 'plastics' are bound to join. But how far back do you have go to consider yourself 'genuine' or plastic? Me and my wife have been 'plastics' since we got into the championship, and saved up every year since to afford season tickets, putting money in the coffers straight away for Swansea city to spend on signings pre season. I could not afford going to Wembly for the play off final, yet 40,000 others did, my savings could not afford that. So, am I a genuine fan? or a plastic? This club moves on, and hopefully one day we will have all the 40,000 that attended Wembly there every game in a few seasons time.

I'm one of the "real fans" who doesn't own and won't have a ST for next season. I'm not a particularly high earner and I work shifts which means I can't guarantee to get along to a lot of games, and when I do go I tend to take young people from various groups who don't get a chance usually.

This season I probably went to near 18 home games and a few away as well, it's kind of upsetting that I may not even get a chance to see the mighty Swans play next season. I guess that's life though and that's how it goes, whether it's right or wrong eh...

I do think though that give it 8-10 games and people realise we aren't high-flyers like this year then the plastic fans will fade out and you'll start to see more empty seats around the ground.
 
My thought on this are:
Existing die hard fans would already have renewed ST - so no problems there
I do however agree with Mabon above in that It is wrong that the "corporate fat cats" get the chance to buy NEW season tickets ahead of a potential NEW generation of fans who have tasted the swans for the first time due to the play off final experience. In my opinion (after taking into account the esisting STH renwing - which was done correctly by the club) the "corporate" boxes should have been sold at a VERY HIGH price to the corporate sections who are willing to pay , and the rest of the seats available should have been made available to the general public on first come first served basis.
 
Has anyone mentioned the huge queue outside the Liberty? Only live across the road and there is a good 200 people camping overnight right the way down the south stand and up the east stand - crazy stuff!

the REAL fans would have got their ST's BEFORE the playoff final, now the extra plastics that followed you to Wembley (we all have them) are getting tickets and proper fans are missing out...........it stinks
 
I have to say that most of the ST holders I know and sit around have already renewed, well before the Wembley game.
 
There are other types of supporters, not just die hards and plastics. There are also supporters who don't live near Swansea, who have other commitments, but still want to go to as many home and away games as possible. Buying a season ticket isn't a viable option, but it now looks like there will be very little chance of these supporters getting to either a home or away game, especially if you can only buy your ticket in person.

On reflection, this is simply a consequence of getting into the best league in the world. Personally, I want the option of an away season ticket, that would suit me down to the ground, as I tend to go to more away games than home over the course of the season. I don't fancy my chances of getting hold of too many away tickets next year.

One thing's for sure, there should be a great atmosphere wherever the Swans play next season.
 
Kizzy - my mate is in the same position - he lives in Plymouth. Hes gone and bought a season ticket the last few years even though he might miss loads of games and we sell his seatif hes not there
 
This is a top thread that throws up many arguements.

Ive only been to one away game, and that was the cup game at Pompey. I love Swansea city and have supported them for years, yet due to finances, have only been a season ticket holder for the last 4 years. How is a club meant to go forward if there isnt investment pre season? Surely SCFC cant invest in players etc if fans put there money in first? Premiership cash will help.What means more to the club? 16000 season tickets, corperate sponsers or 2500 fans who wish to stay down the vetch? Times move on.

You have reminded me of a story told to me by somebody high up in the commercial dept back in our last foray in the old first division, now this gentleman was quite friendly with my old man and played for us in the sixties anyway i was having a chat with him at the time we were top six and i was remarking the fact that it was great to see the vetch rocking with a full house week in week out,(you are like me i remember standing on the sleepers behind the goal at the east terrace (getting soaked) pre east stand in the 70s on a wet friday night watching the swans playing workington or Southport in front of 3/4 thousand at best in the old 4th division), anyway i remember him telling me that the swans would give out around a thousand free matchday tickets each month to corporates during our division one days, its no wonder we nearly went bust.
 
CQJ - You're absolutely right, this is something that I should have done this year. Unfortunately, it now looks like I'm too late, there's no way I can get to Swansea tomorrow.

I'll lie in bed tonight hoping they don't sell out tomorrow, then maybe I'll get a chance to buy one on Saturday?
 
it was always going to happen, i mean where the hell has 40,000 swans supporters come from, i would of liked to see them on a cold Tuesday night carling cup game where we barely get 5,000 its rubbish. just hope it wont stop too many people as this is what real supporters have dreamt off
 
I think all new STH's should be subject to a test... We should find a way to replicate the exact conditions of our game against Bristol City this season and if they come through a couple of those then they're in.
 
There are many on planet swans going to start queing at the liberty at 3/4 am tomorrow morning, i hope huw has lined up the lost prophets to keep them entertained
 
Well it seems this thread has opened up more questions than answers, and this evening I went back down my local for a pint, and to discuss this situation with some fellow Jacks, and while we where talking, at 12:30, one Jack had a text message to say that there were 500 fans queueing at the liberty, and the queue was growing, now anyone who is thinking of getting up at 4:am in the morning to get tickets can forget it, so for those of you that purchased tickets every home game last season, who are just as good a supporter as any season ticket holder, don't count on being able to do that this season, It's a shame that within days of this season finishing for us Jacks, the Liberty is sold out. One Jack this evening who has not missed a home game in seasons, and who could not afford to pay out for a season ticket, has resigned himself to going to away games only, to me all this is a great shame and the club will now lose many valuable 'REAL' fans!.........................

Glad i took an early bird deal when they came out! Really gutting to hear about the queue's already as i know some people who are die-hards weren't able to get to most of the games (due to work) so thought they'd settle with buying them as they come. A mate pointed out though that some things might change 6 weeks down the line when the plastics dont like a lose or two and the real supporters stay through thick and thin!!

Come on council expand!.......
