Look I'm not bleddy interested in the stupid picture ok.........nothing wrong with my equipment either it's just slower than it used to be and sometimes needs a clunk with a blunt instrument to get it started. I need a bleedin drink I think. Set em up barperson and have one for yourself. Bugger the others we'll have a party between us and crack open the nuts.
"Crack open the nuts".....there you go again sensible......another innuendo......please stop it.....there might be children reading this or even Mrs Jools.....if your going to have a party without us.....please pre-book the taxi to take you home...... we can't look after you all the time. Ps........sensible.....arrange for the Christmas decorations to be taken down......and stored in that cellar of yours......behind the spare barmaids of course......the inflatable ones of course......................
Not much been said on here about the "Ched Evans affair" and maybe rightly so. But, having listened to some of the crap today about him continuing/not continuing his football career some of it makes me want to spit. Firstly the bloke himself is a complete arse and I cannot believe his attitude towards what he did. He issues a statement after all this time which says he is sorry for the "affects" of his actions. Not sorry he did anything wrong just the fall out it caused. Even that was sort of dragged out of him screaming and because of that sounds and probably is as ungenuine as it gets. The future father-in-law sounds a right charmer as well. He doesn't seem to think there is anything wrong in what he did and this is the bloke likely to marry his daughter. Hmmmm. Then there is the reaction of some people who are supposedly so uptight about the case that they threaten to rape the daughter of one of the Oldham Board. What kind of people are these for christ sake. To be so full of angst at the crime that they threaten to commit it themselves in revenge???? These people ought to be traced and done for it as there is simply no excuse for their reactions and it is not the reactions of sane people. It is the subject of comment from a lot of people on boards and some of that is beyond me also. It seems there are people out there who, because of these threats, have changed their minds about Evans and now feel sorry for him. What the **** are these people on? Just because a few idiots sound off it doesn't make Evans innocent and they seriously need to look at themselves. The man is guilty because a Jury said he was and 3 appeal Judges agreed. His guilt has nothing to do with any threats made. I understand this case is bound to raise emotions in people and there are bound to be strong opinions but how some people go about expressing them is just beyond me. The simple fact is that if anyone wanted to protest all they would need to do is tell the Oldham club they would not attend any match in future if they signed him. The folly of ignoring majority opinion would soon come home to roost. The outside opinion would have no affect on Oldham whatsoever so it should be left to the Oldham supporters to make the point if they have one and nobody else. Personally if Argyle were Oldham and signed him I would stop going and it is as simple as that.
It was a lie Mrs jools and they couldn't prove otherwise...........my zip broke at the wrong moment is all and the Nun just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
For once I totally agree sensible. I have steered away from the subject because it is so emotive and having been such a strong supporter of Luke McCormick's return I wouldn't want to be accused of double standards. However, he (Evans) was found guilty of a hideous crime, served part his time and remains on license. His so called apology today has only served to emphasise that in his strange world he doesn't feel he has done anything wrong. Having thought long about this and as much as I would find it difficult, I too would refuse to attend any matches if Argyle signed him before any appeal process has concluded. Not that I think for one minute that PAFC would be remotely interested in him. I don't know enough to comment much further other than to say that I don't think he should play again until his appeal has been heard , or he is no longer on license (by when he will have been deemed to have fully served his sentence in the eyes of the law) . For those that argue that Luke's actions had a more disastrous impact, I guess that to a certain extent they did;-in my view the main difference is that however stupid he was it was out of character and he has fully engaged with the rehabilitation programme (which after all is what prison is supposed to be for) and there is no doubt he will continue to suffer the consequences of his actions(as will the family) for as long as he lives. On the other hand Evans doesn't seem to care less. Finally the threats made against Oldham staff are also horrific and should be fully investigated. To be controversial, I am not sure how I would feel if he was to be cleared following his apparent ongoing appeal. However distasteful, I suppose I would have to think that he would be entitled to resume his career - but please not at Argyle.
What I am having trouble getting my head around is 10 minutes earlier with man 1 it was legal, 10 minutes later with man 2 it was rape .... both in my view are either legal or both rape ..... the girl also has a prolific history of crying rape ..... perhaps he doesn't feel he has done anything wrong because he didn't and this is from a female point of view !
Thanks Jools, I don't know enough about the case to comment on the specific rights or wrongs of the evidence but have merely trusted in the jury (perhaps naively). I have the misfortune of having a close family member who was raped and have witnessed at first hand the devastation it has caused for her. Different circumstances and in her case it never in got to court, but I could never defend a man who took advantage of someone who either said 'no' or was in no fit state to say anything.....
I am playing devils advocate here but it is documented that they were all wasted so what if he didn't consent to sex either or said he couldn't remember like she did .... I am not defending him its just that the facts don't sit right and I hate injustices !
Not arguing but it seems odd that the jury didn't take your stance-maybe they thought he was an easy target. As I said earlier, if his conviction is eventually overturned then he probably ought to be able to resume his career. Still not my sort of bloke though...large glass of red please.
I haven't exactly gone into the case in anyway shape or form but I have to say I trust the Jury system and the people who sit on them. I don't think they thought of him as a target and having sat on one I truely believe the vast majority of people take them seriously and their duty. They were given all of the facts that were known and they found that he was guilty. That's good enough for me and unless some other evidence is forthcoming then guilty he remains. There is enough publicity surrounding this case that the 3 appeal court judges would have looked seriously at the proceedings and they found the Jury to have acted in a proper manner and to have considered the case fully. That's good enough for me also. I am puzzled as to why one was considered guilty and the other not but I don't have a transcript of the evidence so it just remains a puzzle. To be fair nobody comes out of this case with much credit do they. I listened to the news today and when it wasn't talking about French things it was on about Steve Bruce giving his backing to Evans being allowed to continue his career. What the **** has it got to do with Hull and why would any sane person get involved in this who didn't have to? Do all footballers and ex footballers think like Evans? I agree with lyndhurst, the bloke is unsavoury to say the least and I would hope that Argyle would never touch anyone like him with a barge pole.
Big fan of Steve Bruce but think his comments are, at best , ill advised. No benefit to anyone and unless he was there how can he offer an opinion on the wrongs or rights of the juries decision?. Surely if the conviction was that 'unsafe' it would be overturned on appeal. As you say sensible, it has got nothing to do with him, hull, or anyone else other than the judiciary, the guilty, and the victim. PS. I knew you shouldn't have opened this particular can of worms. More wine please.
You are right about opening cans and worms lyndhurst and sorry for doing it. I just read a load of crap from people on it and it got my goat. That and the stupid ones making threats. I think there are definately more sane people in Asylums than wandering some of the streets and websites. I'll drop the subject now and join you in a small tincture of white. Cheers!!
Cheers!!- We (me + my lovely wife) often wonder if we are the odd ones and everyone else is normal. Don't care really , much prefer living our lives the way we want to and just hope the rest of the world realises they are wrong!
Most of the asylums have been closed down already sensible......it's care in the community these days.....meaning no care at all.
I think they still exist plym but only in the virtual world these days. "(me and my lovely wife)" lyndy???? How many bottles have you had. I would never say something like that in public about Mrs S. Have my reputation to maintain if nothing else. You did actually encourage me to get a glass of white out of the fridge. I'm easily led as you know......
