Well a great start to the season Argyles awesome strike force were unstoppable and smash in 3 as I predicted, well almost. Although rumour has it Pomey were down to 3 players by the end as the others mums called then in from play as it was past their bedtime. Hope they can get some players in quick otherwise those kids are in for a long hard season they only had 3 on the bench and 1 was 15 apparently.
mexijan.......good to start with a win,I think Saturdays match against Aldershot will show us where we actually are as a team. Although we scored three goals please remember that was against a team of eighteen year olds, so it is hard to judge what value that is........at least we are in the second round of the cup.
I don't care if their mum's had played. It was 3 - 0 and fine by me. Burnley away however............
This is an Argyle bar mexijan. Happy Hour? If you look at the dust in here then it should tell you a lot. Needs a couple of women to give it a spring clean. Know any? By the way Octopi aren't allowed in the bar. They always have on over the eight.
Well done Argyle but seemed a little bit of a nail biter towards the end on text commentary. Drinks all round!
I would of popped in for a drink last night...but to be honest I was too knackered. My family, my good wife and yours truly had been up at the crack of dawn and were going through security at the Olympic Park by 8-15 am. Five of us had tickets for the morning athletics session in the Stadium and the other four had tickets for a trip up the Orbit tower plus other things to do during the morning. We all spent the rest of the day with a picnic lunch and touring around the vast complex of venues in the park. There was entertainment around the park to watch and enjoy......a fantastic day out and quite an experience. 80,000 in the stadium plus large crowds in the Velodrome,Aquatic Centre,Copperbox Arena,Riverbank Arena (football) and something happening in the Eton Manor Stadium as well......I reckon including those that where there with just day passes ( not going to anything, but queuing for any spare tickets) there must of been at least 150,000/200,000 people in the Olympic Park. The organization was tip-top all day.....no problems getting there, straight through security with no queuing.... plenty of toilets, food out lets, free drinking water everywhere, plenty of space to picnic in,seat and tables in plenty, the biggest Macdonalds you've ever seen, must of been two hundred picnic tables out side of it alone each with a parasol. The stadium lived up to everything that I'd seen on TV....an incredible building with hundreds of exits...no problem getting in or out. Left by 7pm with a smooth journey home on the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) and then South East Railways...home by 8.30pm, and that was against the flow of spectators poring in for the evening sessions....thousands of them. All the scaremongering about the chaos that would happen was all wrong.......tickets were £10 for adults and £5 for children and concessions...... a great value for a day to remember....never to be done again in our lifetime.
Sounds like a good day out was had by all then plym. Did you enter one of the events or is it just a case of short arms and long pockets by the number of rounds you don't buy in here? I have watched a bit of the para Olympics on C4 but the coverage is rubbish in comparison to the Beeb. Every 10 minutes they pop off for a commercial break and they are missing out on so much unless it is a Brit medal possibility. Some of the performances are awesome though. I watched a Chinese bloke with only half an arm do a medley race this evening and he went through the water like a speed boat. What he can do in the pool with so little to propel him was beyond belief and puts a load of us able bodied people to shame. I'm not meaning to sound patronising here either because I acknowledge that he just thinks of himself as a swimmer rather than a swimmer with anything missing. Makes me feel a bit whimpy though when I whinge about a toe ache. The determination and effort these people put in is humbling.
sensible.......It the only way Channel Four can pay for it by lots of advertising time.....in the paper today someone was complaining that 3 mins of advertising was followed by 3 mins in the studio and then back to 3 mins of advertising.....no sport at the height of live competition time.....and they are using some of the top BBC commentators to do it.
Morning Jack.......pardon the dust and unkept state of the place at present but most of the regulars have been rather fed-up lately.....sensible the cellarman is away this weekend so it is rather low key......we have a few of the missing posters popping into the site recently so we are glad that that is happening....generally about six of us.....lets hope a few more wins will bring back those that can't be bothered when we are not winning.
Jack how are you? help your self to a breakfast and cook it your self as no body in here. I think its gone in to admin Lol , no one using the bar... brent may take it over soon? But he won't spend anything !!!
Anyone want crisps? Been a bit on the lonely side in here lately. I've done my best with the dusting but there may be a few bits of fluff hanging about.
Evening Mrs lalala, do you want the vintage packets circa 1947 or the more modern 1963 ones? I never wear shoes in here only my comfy slippers. It's the only way I can sneak up on plymborn.
So that will be scrumpy, lemonade and rum then. Cherry? Don't know where the bleddy bar staff are these days. Have to do everything around here.
Hope you feel well rested after your weekend break sensible, looks like you got the same weather we had in Cardiff you wouldn't catch me near Leicester, it's no longer an English city and hasn't been for decades now and they call it an ethnic "minority" hmmm. I have no problem with a multi racial society so long as there is a percentage of white europeans - there isn't in Leicester. Can't speak for Coventry though as I've not been there. Anyway they say a change is as good as a rest and a weekend away now and then does you good. Hope mrs sensible is well.
