I believe it fundamental that we provide an opportunity for those posters of a homosexual inclination to "come out" (the idea of having to express a particular sexual preference in an advanced or "civilised" society seems laughable, never mind considering it an event in itself. The term "coming out" actually implies a demonstrative barbarism of the persuasion prehistoric and Ancient societies would ridicule... The next time you're in a museum, mentally mocking the anatomically outdated representation of our extinct relations, with the amusing thought of your Westlife CD or double-ended dildo and how far we've come, remember that, while they may not have been accustomed to the dulcet harmonies of Shane Filan and Mark Feehily, they'd be the ones who wouldn't be so socially ******ed as to bemoan the latter's choice of orifice... and we don't actually know what they did with those long carved "models" they created ;);)...) and thus promote themselves as role-models for gay people the world over (and not, I assure you, simply hammer the final nail in the coffin of our cultural assimilation with Heat magazine's latest philosophical and high-brow offering), who might not have considered posting before, afraid of the almost certain vilification, taunting and abuse by us vile hetero-types.

For your reference and reassurance, I shall update a handy list of outed gays below, in the fashion of the most recent BBC Sport attempt to make us care about the subject. Do not worry, it's not a witchhunt. It's the much more fun younger and camper brother, the gayhunt. We're coming for you! Well, not in that way... I mean we're going to back you into a corner, pounce on you, give you a punishing you'll never forget, make your eyes water... With all the crying I mean... From the punishing...

What's that? This is inappropriate, nobody gives a s***, and it's simply an excuse to profligate a reaction from the moronic right wingers, who most certainly do not speak the minds of the majority, but are of course infinitely more likely to provide ample opportunity for further easy headlines in any eventuality? Why are our media allowed to do it then?

Maybe we should use this thread for posters to admit to things that we've all been conditioned to find repugnant... I like wearing socks with sandals <ok>

Wow! JPF. If nothing else you get the award for the longest 'sentence' I've ever read. I had to be resuscitated twice while trying to read that, due to lack of oxygen inhalation. ;)

I feel a rendition of "I'm coming out" by Diana Ross coming on.

OK, OK. As it's the coming thread, here goes...

I once had an affair with an Ewok. But it was just an experimental phase I went through. It didn't mean anything.

Oh and that one night stand with the Gamorrean Guard doesn't count - she looked ok after a few drinks in the Mos Eisley cantina.

When I was growing up "Coming Out" just meant meeting up with your mates and going on the lash in toon, gay was just happy, no politics no sexual orientation connotations.

True, but in those days being accused of being homosexual was about the worst that could conceivably happen, except perhaps that your child might be homosexual

I once bought a 5 Star single in the 80s.

OK, I know that's still not socially acceptable. I await my ban...

:emoticon-0107-sweat

Hmm, we need to consider the case for and against a ban.

Have you learned your lesson? Did you destroy the single? Do you renounce 5 Star?

Or do you still dust off the single and play it when there's nobody around? Do you still hum the tune while in the shower? Do you still dream of being in Five Star?

As a little test, do the words 'rain or shine' have any significant meaning in your life? Do they bring back happy memories? Do you now find yourself singing?

It was a one off. I only dust it off and play it to remind myself never to repeat this terrible purchase. As for dreaming of being in 5 Star....as a teenager I may have harboured thoughts of being in one of them.......ah - not what you meant. I've said too much.....

Ah, now we get the real link to this thread. You fancied Delroy!

...or, whatever his name was. I don't actually know, it was just a lucky guess. If it's true, of course. I mean for all I know, there wasn't even a Delroy in Five Star. <whistle>

Well to link up two of today's threads, I'd have to deny any links to Del-roy, but on the other hand (or is that in the other hand) admit that on occasion those girls could trigger a response in the old Uncle Alberts that required paying attention to the plonker!

It was that or the Littlewoods catalaogue pages 172-197 <whistle>

<laugh><laugh> Love it!

Ahh the Littlewoods catalogue. A 12 year old boy's fantasy world!
